A Web Designer's Journey to Success!

I'd advise you to think about marketing before acquiring skills.

How are you going to find potential leads, and more specifically, leads who have the budget to spend with you.

You might learn to be the best web developer ever, but if you don't have customers, you don't have a business and you've wasted time learning something you can't sell.

But if you find customers, even if you can't service them, you should be able to refer them to someone else who can (and take commission).

I'd argue that you don't want to be learning web development at all, but rather how to market a web development business.

The other tip I'm going to leave is that you're not special - yet. There are loads of web developers available for hire on online marketplaces. You need a key point of differentiation - something that you specialise in that makes you stand out and that increases the value of what you do.

Think about specialising in a specific technology or providing services to a specific industry. Don't be like every other developer. Give clients you want to service a reason to hire you over anyone else.

EXACTLY!
all you said was what i felt for previously...
i'm a good developer to be honest but i never could be successful because i had no plan how to sell my service...
that's why this time i first created a schedule and funnel for promoting the service and then started to learning the skills

i want to focus on landing pages that make people say wow. that's the thing that's going to separate me from rest of web developers.
like this one: https://amp-article.herokuapp.com

i will try to remember your advices. thanks you very much.

Remember to not rush it. Learn one thing at a time , implement , then move on to the next.

Great words Thank you.
Possible to see anyhing of your graphics? :D
hmmm tbh there nothing to show right now... i may share some of my works after i did something...
Damn. what about your Clickbank Journey ??
Clickbank won't pay iranians... and if i want to start a stealth payoneer i should pay 20 million iranian rials...
which i don't have. i stuggle so hard but there was nothing i can control.

Update #4

yesterday:

  • I finished the damn youtube tutorial that I started watching a few days back.
  • I tried to learn more web development but there was nothing new for me.
  • I searched for a library/method to create my desired landing page.
  • I found an awesome library to work with that will save me a lot of time and thinking.
today:
  • I'm gonna start learning more about the library that I chose. (fullpage.js)
  • maybe create a sample project.

Update #5

yesterday:

  • i messed around with fullpage to learn more about that
  • i found a plugin to help me creat even more beatiful pages
  • so now i'm running fullpage+plugin to create stuff
  • i got inspired by an stablished webpage using fp
  • i setup basic stuff to reverse engineer the sample page
  • i fast read the fullpage wiki
today/later:
  • i'm gonna focus on recreating the sample page that i got inspired by.
  • i'm gonna remove some parts of that and keep everything that actually matters
  • then i'm gonna add more stuff to the sample page and animate them to extend that
  • then i'm gonna create another page inspired by the said sample page and that's gonna be my #1 sample work!
seems like things are getting a little interesting... :)
can't wait to see the end.
wish me passion and pretty girls ;)

Update #6

yesterday
was a weird day.
i started bad because i should reverse engineer the page that i got inspired by but i didn't know how to start exactly.
so i procrastinated using video games and shit ton of music...
but at the end of the day around 10pm-12:30am i finally started doing some stuff and did some serious damage to source code :)
i guess i just work better at nights and am more focused/careful.
what i did was removing unnecessary stuff from the ripped page and understanding 80% of script and categorizing the 1000-lined css file.
hopefully today i will learn the remaining javascript of the page and break down the css.
and i will also remove the remaining complicated useless stuff in the page and make the page ready to modify.

also ripping the page (actually thinking about it) became really hard that i almost gave up on that and was thinking about switching to a better plugin and find another page to get inspired by. i'm not sure what made me back to the code and carry on learning stuff about that. but i can say i was kinda paralyzed be the damn analysis... i was scared of the code and my weakness was doing his best to stop me.

TIL: you can understand ANY code, does not matter how complicated or dirty it is. i actually didn't think i would ever understand that source code. it was dirty and a little secured!

You'll get there brother just don't be disheartened now.
Good luck

Update #7

yesterday
was not a productive day.
at the first of day i worked a little like 1-2 hours on the code and made the project that i was working on usable.
but it's still not done.
video games fucked me up... i should stop playing but the damn game is browser based so it's not easy to not access it!
that's it, yesterday was defiantly not a productive day but i'm gonna use that to man up today and hopefully do some serious stuff.

Update #8

yesterday

i finished my project. so now i have a working template.
good? no. i don't know what to do with this.
i don't know how to monetize it, i don't know who may find this helpful.
i can make personal sites on this but that's not why i started this journey.
so i'm gonna do some research and find a twist for my journey.
wish me not to stop

Update #9

yesterday
was an important day.
so i was struggling about what should i do with my landing page design knowledge (which is not much)
and i finally figured out that this skill is not sufficient alone. i should learn some conversion rate improvement skills.
so i can combine these two and provide an excellent service to my customers.
i'm gonna design a high CTR landing page for my customers and help them to increase conversion rate even more.
so i spend yesterday basically learning about this kind of stuff on a niche blog.
and i'm gonna spend today learning even more.
wish me not to stop pushing myself <3

Update #10, #11

day before yesterday

i read about 5,6 articles or something about conversion rate improvement and landing page design.
i got tired and felt like i'm it's a lot of work and got overwhelmed. i guess bc i was reading repetitive content, a lot of them!
so now i think it's better that i start, and work on improving stuff later... but i'm not sure still.

yesterday:
was my day off, i enjoyed so many video games :)

today:
i'm gonna find a balance between taking action and learning skill... i'm sure this is not as easy as it seems.

i don't believe much, but if you do please pray for me <3
