Never had them before in my life, moved into a new Airbnb, woke up at 3am with 3 bites, spend 5 hours searching for them, no sign.. repeat for multiple nights.. contemplate ending it all and burning down entire apartment block. Problem solved.

I had to fight bed bugs after a tenant brought them in and that was a fight to forget.
Bed bugs don't play!
Have a plan for when you get home.
Do not take ANY clothes suitcases, books, electrical devices/gadgets into your home without a thorough outdoor inspection.
(a). Put ALL clothes, suitcases, and clothe items into a heavy trash bag, seal and destroy. Or,
(b). Put ALL clothes, suitcases, and clothe items into a heavy trash bag, seal and place contents into your bathtub filled with hot water and Dawn Soap 56 oz. Submerge all items and let them soak overnight.
(c). Inspect and reinspect all electrical devices from top to bottom, make sure that no bed bugs have slipped in.
(d). Set up traps in your house to make certain that no bed bugs have piggybacked their way in. (after I cleared that townhouse, I used the video below to set bed bug traps)
(f). Hopefully they haven't, but if they have, get some Diatomaceous Earth, together with the bed bug traps will kill those bastards.
