April had been brutal enough to blow us, affiliate marketers, hard with the commission cut from Amazon. Now after 3 months, it's time to look back to the sales curve and take measures.

We all expected a 40-60% drop in sales, commissions, and overall worth of our blogs. But is it as terrible as everyone thought it to be?

Personally, what I see from my dashboard is, commissions are cut down. But there's is a shy climb of the number of products sold from a certain range of daily clicks.

As most of them are from cookie sales, which means people are buying more stuff than ever from Amazon. And somehow, that recovers up our loss in commission by a fair share. For example. a site was making about $1000/mo. After the cut, it was supposed to earn around $400-500. But what it's making is within $700-800. That's unusual and unexpected, right?

What you guys are experiencing? Also, we can talk about what monetization alternatives had worked out so far.

Are they buying the products listed on the site or they buying other stuff through your affiliate link.

For me, April and May were horrible. Close to 60% cut in Amazon earnings + less traffic due to Covid-19.

June and July were pretty good. I'm still about 35-40% down but it doesn't bother me too much now. The market has adjusted itself very quickly.

IMO, Amazon is still a great choice to monetize your niche sites and the fact that people are buying more products online than they use to, should help stabilize the earnings a little.

I do agree, sales increase 2x - 3x

Still blows my mind how drastic the cuts were. 10% to 1% were huge. They knew what they were doing when they made that decision. No love for the affiliates :(

Mostly they're cookie sales. that means people are buying stuff in bulk during the lockdown. Direct product sales(my recommended one) are more of less same in terms of number.

Almost a similar experience over here as well. And I do agree that people will keep increasing online purchases in the days coming. So, amazon will be on many's favorite list of monetization methods. But I think what we're still getting from amazon via 20k(say) of our monthly traffic, isn't quite worth it. We need to diversify it up just in case amazon cuts the commission further down.

Can't explain enough how horrible the next few days were. Most of us were just SPEECHless right after the news. On top of that, it was the lockdown and everyone out there were in need of help. But Amazon managed to be brutal enough to cut the primary earning source of many of us loose without even a warning.

my revenue decrease 50-60% fed up with amz aff
