It's pretty straightforward. If you're looking to get into a category and see dozens of spam listings in a smallish city then you know that you should look somewhere else assuming you want to enter an obscure niche.

Go to Google and search for "business coaching san antonio" and you'll see only 3 pages worth of Google maps results and nobody seems to be using the exact keyword in the GMB title.

If you just spend an hour of your time, I'm sure you'd find at least 3-5 obscure niches that will make you money.

The most money is in low competition, high ticket services.

Personal injury is high ticket but the competition is brutal making it very difficult to sustain GMB listings over time.

Obviously, you're going to need a strategy to return your investment to profitability before you get started building listings.

The biggest plus of choosing obscure niches or obscure locations is that your listings will last longer. Nobody will report your locations for being artificial plus Google doesn't really clean up your categories as few if any spam listings appear over time.

Finding the right niches and placements takes diligence.
