Honestly, I'm pretty new on BHW, so I'm not very familiar with every rule.
One of the posts I tried to publish recently was denied/removed.

I was trying to give people access to free landing pages that I host on my site to download. All the page contains is an archive of landing page and nothing more.

I find the reason of deleting my post a little illogical. That would mean most sites are banned from being linked at all!

How many sites doesn't have any affiliate link at all? It'd be a stupid low percentage.

Though my site does have 1-2 page with affiliate link throughout my entire site, the page I linked does not have any affiliate link. It is a simple archive of landing page people can download.

I really hope it was a mistake or misinterpretation of a staff member. Please have it reviewed

Not only do you have affiliate links on your site you also are promoting other forums there as well.
So you're not allowed to link to any site that has affiliate links? So no PCmag, techradar, or any site that has content with affiliate links.

Like I said the page I posted is just an archive of landing page.
Yes, in my recommended tool page I link to several community I find useful which BHW is part of.

A freebie here is given without the expectation of anything in return.

Your affiliate links there have an expectation of a return.

Promoting other forums there is not something that is in good taste either if you are posting the site here.

Just upload the landing pages to mediafire or something and give them away for free as there are only 5 or so from what I remember.

That was unnecessary, you get my point. I'm new to the forum, doesn't mean that because I joined in 2017 that I'm a veteran here and I know all the ins and out.

Thats fair enough, you don't know all of the rules. But now you know one more rule, so rather than arguing about the rules, why not just accept the rule, learn and move on?

All of the rules are there for good reason - to protect the interests of the forum and to make it a safe and robust community - and the staff that enforce them are also mostly volunteers so we have no other motive than to support and better the forum and its members.

Yes, my archive landing page is a freebie. I do not expect anything in return from giving away those landing pages. I do not promote any affiliate link in my archive, i only GIVE away free code.

If the user decides to crawl through the site, that's his choice. Are you expecting every site linked here on BHW to not have any affiliate link at all throughout the entire site? I'd totally understand to want page site linked to not have any referral links in them to avoid spammy content being posted, but an entire site?

If the user decides to crawl through the site, that's his choice.

And you having affiliate links there from a freebie is not going to be allowed.

I explained above how you can share your free landing pages as a freebie.

You hear that guys? I guess he is just new

For whatever it is worth: I "joined" in 2013, but became active only last year or so. I am also watching this thread to know the nuances of the rule. :)

OP, why don't you use Mediafire or some other third-party site, as suggested?

Mods:

A philosophical question: Just thought of this while reading this thread. It seems on-topic, so posting here. Please feel free to delete if you feel it is off-topic or tangential - or if you just don't happen to like the cut of my this post's jib. :)

Mediafire is a big company. We allow links to their pages, which are littered with ads.
Now, if BHW provides a hosting service and asks members to use that, that is totally cool. You provide a meeting place for people, you deserve the revenue.
But not so with Mediafire. BHW doesn't gain any revenue. The members do not gain anything as well.

Most people on BHW are struggling entrepreneurs or small business owners, I assume. So, why not let the members earn the extra money, rather than big companies like the owners of Mediafire? As long as the members are not impacted by that?

There is no loss of revenue for BHW, since Mediafire links do not contribute to BHW's bottomline, anyway.

There can be a limit of one post a month or so with links, so that people don't go overboard.
If someone is gaming the system, you can warn them or ban them.
If this results in extra effort for the moderators and administrators, you can always remove the rule.

seems a pretty straight forward rule no linking to your own
out side pages with aff links, as your drawing traffic from bhw
which could benefit you in some sales, while doing nothing for bhw.

its like the other rule, new members cant sell on bhw only payed users of bhw
can make money from bhw by paying for that privilege

I'm not going to argue with them as it is no longer beneficial for neither party. I was just being logical there, this rule didn't sound logical to me anyway.

Rules are made by humans, and they gotta adapt to our changement.

Women rights wasn't a thing a century ago.

I'm not sure if you spent a single second reading what went through the thread, but before posting anything next time, do that.

1. In my post, I was GIVING away, free of charge, no ads, my landing pages. My own.
2. I wasn't linking to any of my pages with referral links.

this thread to know the nuances of the rule
There's more than just a few landing pages on there, and I'm expecting to upload more of my own.
And why would I want to upload it somewhere else when I find a clean & working solution.
If I use Mediafire, I'd have to create an account & overall I just always found those kind of site as unreliable, and spammy with their pop up ads.
If I upload it on Mediafire, I would have to upload all of them in one zip file, meaning people would have to install them all, even if they only want one, a waste of storage IMO.

Honestly just not worth the fight, I understand the rule now & just going to abid it and move on and explore the different sections of this forum. :)

I should have said this earlier in my posts and apologize for not... sharing your landers for free is quite generous and the entire community does appreciate that including the staff. Just some minor issues with the process but when the offer was deleted you did not get a warning as it was clear your heart was in the right place but we have to hold the same line for all.

Again, you sharing is quite generous.

Perhaps down the road BHW will have their own file sharing site and be able to accommodate you and others in the same shoes.
