My Mom Threatened To Sue Me....

And also I don't get that "but it's your mom, shame on you". It was probably her decision to have child. A child should never feel guilt for beeing raised by their parents.

I the western culture, this thing is understandable, but if you put your self on their shoes ( eastern perspective ), they honor their parents that has been sacrifice everything for their children. not because guilt feeling thought.

I am pretty sure she’s not a bad mom since you agreed to make business with her.

As a lot of members say give her back the money and dont mix business with family, this look like a weekend post by the way.

Honoring and taking every bullshit are 2 different things imho. having children just to rely on them is a fucked up concept that has nothing to do with honoring.
what on earth is honorable to let my children sacrifice their hardwork and wellbeing, that I live good and see my children crumble.

Like everyone else is saying, "she is your mother" , I wouldn't even charge my mum for the condo in the first place, but that is me.

She carried you for nine months , took care of you till you got to the point you even know what money is and how to make money, and I am sure she hasn't charged you for it.

I know you might say this is being emotional about it but if you can afford a condo she wants, she doesn't even have to pay for it

Never do business with friends or family. It's best that you don't ruin your relationship with your mother for some contract or money papers.

You are just starting off with your apartment business, just let it go and find a real renter, preferably outside your family.

You should not neglect your mom or her reasonable request for the sake of your business.

Legit. Crazy isn't it???

So as I am sure you are aware that having money in the bank is useless to a point.. The goal is to get assets and create multiple sources of income from those assets to grow your net worth.

So I decided to get a loan and buy a cheap condo and guess what... MY MOM wants to rent from me!!! Awesome right??? I think not.....

Some things were needing to get done to the condo which started back in July 1st 2020.

After about 80% of the renovations being done, July 16th or 17th comes around and my contractor got COVID-19 sadly and had to stop work...

Well, my mom was scheduled to get moved in by August 1st, 2020 and with him getting COVID it delayed the renovations....

My moms rent started on August 1st, 2020... The amount was deducted from her account..

We agreed we would prorate the amount that had delayed her to move in which was 6 days... (Making renovations complete by August 6th).

My rental property management system charged her the full amount and not the prorated amount. (The prorated amount would be applied to the next months rent).

She legit threatened to cancel the entire contract, requested I pay her the full amount back and now I would have to find a new renter to take her spot..

WTF?!?

She said she needed the prorate to apply to this month and not next and I told her about the processor balance and how it would apply to next month and she was NOT having it. She immediately requested to cancel everything and she wanted her money back within 24 hours!!!

What do I do??

***Btw, I can't open a shitlist against her because she is not on BHW.

Please help :D
That’s some crazy stuff.

You charge your mom rent? Are you kidding me? come on ... you better than this. Your mom should not pay a penny, maybe you should think of buying her a house.

Your mom wants money from you? My mom would never behave like this. She would never ask me for any money, she always helps me in hard times and gives me money but never wants any money from me.

The processor system took the full amount and placed the prorated amount in a balance to be auto applied to the next payment...

If I refunded the amount now, then not only would she get the money back, but next month would be prorated as well
Sounds like you're the problem here tbh lol

How do you even contemplate giving your mom 12 days rent-free instead of 6 ? She raised your for fucks sake.

Also; take this as a lesson, never hire people you have a personal bond with. Never rent to people you have a personal bond with.

When you thought you have heard it all.......
Holy cow.

Everyone is missing the point. It's not about his mother. Or about it being business.

This was posted on a Monday. Classic weekend thread down the pan.

Just gonna leave this here
