Rick Lomas (penalty recovery expert) found a clear correlation between typical "guest post terms" and triggering of manual review.

Few will not hurt but if you want to future proof your website you will do well to avoid these.

Especially public lists spammed to hell.

I'll try doing that then instead, I wanted to drive on Telegraph or Medium but Medium links are NoFollow and Telegraph doesn't index so.

Nofollow links are treated differently these days.

It's a nice link to have for overall authority boost. Use branded anchor text, not keyword rich one.

medium links can often rank on first page so not bad idea to peruse it

Look at its stats in Ahrefs or somewhere. It's a nice backlink to have.

Medium is also a popular parasite host since it rank very well.

Most vlauble backlink is from the guys that are already ranking for the terms you are after

You know there are literally hundreds of Web 2.0s that you can create and power them up with links to them.

Yeah, they are not going to change your life overnight but if you maintain them you will end up with a nice little PBN that costs very little.

It will be time and energy on your part but they are solid in the long run and like @tiiberius said, do not go full on KW anchors as that was great in 2011 but not so much in this era.
