So let's say I found an item that has been sold a few time by a seller and I want to sell it also....is there any advantage seo wise or potential problems like not ranking if I just go to the competitors listing and click on "sell this item" and they auto fill everything exactly like the competitors listing? And for description I just copy the competitors listing but price will be lower. Doing this way saves me a lot of time and since the seller has sold the item few times i assume his listing is good? I am not using any 3rd party app autolister like yabelle for fear of being banned. Any sellers with experience can share your thoughts? Thanks

I said that million times & I will say that again. Ebay marketplace is based on trust. It's difficult (especially if the account is new) to over rank hot items. These items, that are being sold hundreds per hour or 50 a day are ussually sold by old sellers. Ebay will NOT let you have instant huge sales because it's a huge gamble to them. Maybe You don't have items in stock and You will ship items late, because You want money? Maybe You don't have these items in stock at all and You want to hit and run? You have to have history of selling, then eBay algorithm will give You more and more sales.
When selling on eBay You have to by CONSISTENT, if You want to make a QUICK buck, it's difficult out here. To be honest I've noticed that it's easier to create a legit business on eBay (dropshipping included) than to make a huge money quick. It's just time consuming. List around same quantity of items per day, make Your listings high quality, don't just blindly steal other's listings. Don't be average ''wanna be eBay millionaire'', show consistency and You will have results. The sellers that have those listings, they don't celebrate on the cash. They just work, work, work. Money comes.
Of course there are ways to make a killing on eBay quickly, however to make business out of that quick money - now that's rare. Just remember there's PayPal at the other end, lol. Be a good seller.

Hi thanks for the reply but those items I choose are not those hot items...ie my criteria is that item X has been sold like in the range of 3-10 times so I know this item sells and also when I key in the item listing title I make sure the result in less than 15 that way I can see that competition is low. And how many items to u recommend listing a day? Since I'm a new seller I can only list up to 50 items per month.is it advisable for me to list items with variations ? Because I find that it eats into my item limit for example a ring with a few sizes may take up 4 of my Item limit... Lemme know your thoughts thanks again

Even if those items are not hot - do not expect sales right off the bat. As I said, the marketplace is based on trust, You will not get good traffic instantly. However, I like Your thinking and I love that You put work into product research. In the long term - you will win because You will be working smart.
If Your brand new seller, You will be able to list only 10 items. 50 items is Your seller limit, however, your MONTHLY limit should be 10. After You list 10 items, You will have to contact eBay and raise those limits. Ebay will ask about Your business model, where are Your products placed, who are Your product providers. Say that You have items in Your possession, You are a reseller, You have reselling business for several years and You want to expand Your business to eBay. If item location is different from Your registered location, say that You are a serious businessman, You have a warehouse in China and You visit Your warehouse 2 times every quarter. If they ask You a product provider just open up Aliexpress and say any stores name, they will write that down, it's not really important, You just have an answer that question. If everything goes well, Your limits will be raised and You will be able to list more items. Never say that You are dropshipper.
It's better to list smaller quantity of items consistently than ''jump'' a lot. It's better to list like this 5-5-5-5-5, than 20,1,0,9,0,20. You should work like a legit business and grow like a legit business. You can consistently list items like this from the beginning on several accounts. 1,1,2,2,3,3,3,3,5,5,5,5 and increase.. Our big accounts lists 25-35 lists a day. I know that's not much, You can list 200 if You want to, but again consistency is key.
Variation part: when You are starting a new eBay account Your main goal should be to increase your monthly limits as fast as possible. You should not pay attention to sales too much. Regarding variations, You can list that ring in 4 separate listings with 4 different titles. That way You will have bigger cut of the niche & because You don't have limits yet, more listings per limit.

And just to add on I did have a phone call like a week ago to increase my seller limits but it seems they only increased the money amount limit of items I can sell from 500 dollars to 1500 dollars and not the actual time limit which still remains at 50items/month ...

By that sentence, I meant if You have an item with 5 variations and You want to have more listings, You can list 5 SEPERATE listings from that one listing. So EG.: Your ring has 5 colors, list 5 separate listings with only one variation. Hope this cleared things up.
Cool! That's great, now work, Your listings will be increased automatically in the future if You work well. If You reach Your limit and there's no auto limit increase, call eBay and ask for increase again. You can raise limits manually every 30 days.
