Content seems not to be the key

You may not believe this but I outranked some pretty big sites with DA50+ with very good on page content and a few crappy directory links. I do think luck had something to do with it, maybe Google just favoured my content over the rest.

One thing I noticed was my readablity score for my content is 72 while the competion is around 60 readability.

Just make sure you're the one getting indexed first. It's much safer that way.

Content always matters and also backlinks with good on-page optimization. Good informative content helps to improve the stay time of the user and user interaction with the site. So, it's one of the important factors.

Content matters a lot, it brings you organic readers and establish your brand. Content matters when you write high quality articles, and it doesnt matter if you produce low quality. If you want traffic, write amazing stuff. That's the ultimate answer.

Content alone will not do the trick, that is fact, but I assure you that no amount of links will sustain your rankings if your site does not have quality content.

Moreover, content alone, if it is really good, can start pulling links and authority almost on its own, whereas great links without quality content will not get you very far.

Wanted to Post this to a thread but taught that creating a nrw thread will b better to prevent hijacking......

I don't get it when most people say that content is the key, I think that quote is shitty, from my experience so far, content is not the key, it's deceitful to say that atimes (not really saying you are deceiving op in this thread, you jus contributed).
I have this experimental scenario;
Website with DA 11 posted unique content of about 1000 words with pictures, and what I will say, pretty good SEO setups like KEYWORD on title, slug, etc + internal and external links. Ranked No2 on serps, Nice right?

3 days later, the big boys on same niche with DA 35+ copied exactly same post without enhancements and sent the primary site to 2nd page, and we say content is key, I am yet to believe that, I think HQ Backlinks is the key.

Any reservations?

Content is only needed to put your site in the right category (read keyword) people sho say that content is a real factor in SEO have absolutely no clue of what they are talking about or are selling content, do a simple search in the tech niche for example and you will see for yourself that fresh content has no influence on rankings at all. It is links and domain age that is what get you ranked, just look at the SERP's they will tell you exactly what is what!

Thinking you can rank for medium-high competition keywords with no backlink structure or strategy is like doing 100 situps a day while eating fast food 3 times a day and expecting to have abs.

Well, I'm doing sit-ups and everyone says it helps, yeah it does help but not when you don't have the other foundational pieces of the puzzle working together. Don't be surprised you're not getting results.

We can not rank alone with high-quality content, particularly if the keyword competition is high. You should give a preference for backlinks as well.
Thanks for the contribution

You need quality content and quality backlinks to rank. If you missed any one then you cann't rank for sure until your site have good authority.
You can for low competitive niche and KEYWORDS, Backlinks necesity still remains primary.
I think its undisputed that Google's goal is to serve high quality relevant content to their users. While people debate over whether certain backlinks hurt or help a site, good quality content is safely assumed to be a good investment not only now but for future google.
I go with this. Thanks.

Just make sure you're the one getting indexed first. It's much safer that way.
Even though you are indexed first, the big boys in your niche will still outrank you if they copy same content.

So you think.

You are right

Content matters more than backlinks. If someone has copied your content then take down his site by DCMA.
.
You will eventually get tired, bots are bots

This got me laughing(my fat sister is a good example):D. True though:rolleyes:

You can never dismiss good content, however it's a balance between content and DA. So work hard on your outreach as well as your content and you'll do fine :)
