Wanted to Post this to a thread but taught that creating a nrw thread will b better to prevent hijacking......

Noob advices from my still-noob experience:
  • 0 traffic keywords can rank.
  • The data on SEO tools aren't accurate, but rather to give you an idea.
  • Don't let KW difficulty be the stats that you're looking for. Search the web and look at your competitors instead.
  • Having no backlinks and having them can both work well. In the end, it's about your content.
  • Use power words for your title to attract traffic = helping Google collect data to see where they'll rank you.
Hehe, cheers!

I don't get it when most people say that content is the key, I think that quote is shitty, from my experience so far, content is not the key, it's deceitful to say that atimes (not really saying you are deceiving op in this thread, you jus contributed).
I have this experimental scenario;
Website with DA 11 posted unique content of about 1000 words with pictures, and what I will say, pretty good SEO setups like KEYWORD on title, slug, etc + internal and external links. Ranked No2 on serps, Nice right?

3 days later, the big boys on same niche with DA 35+ copied exactly same post without enhancements and sent the primary site to 2nd page, and we say content is key, I am yet to believe that, I think HQ Backlinks is the key.

Any reservations?

This site scraped your content, republished it on their site and outranked you?

Content definitely matters.

But this does not imply that backlinks are useless.

p.s. if they copied your site, DMCA claim.

Content plus backlinks is always good, but these days it pays off to have a good pint rest profile as they’re ranking literally for all the keywords I see

i think content does matter, in particular on-site optimization. for example how many times your keyword is used in different tags: title, descriptions, P, H, etc. However, it seems that every niche it is different. Google is using different algorithm across different niches. some niches backlinks do seem matter a lot and some niches they dont.

this is why, it is so hard to do single variable testing.

I think the google update from a week ago, which seems to reverse their may update, looks more at quality backlinks, hence why some of the shitty sites are no longer ranked #1. this is just my personal observation.

Content matters but it should be quality enough to work

We can not rank alone with high-quality content, particularly if the keyword competition is high. You should give a preference for backlinks as well.

That's what the thread is all about, you will learn more, just follow

Content is definately very important.
But for what I have seen some writers publish an article and call it “high quality” content. But you read it it’s full of wordy sentences, keyword stuffing and other nonsense.

I believe that kind of content could rank for a short period, but is trash in long term.

Also, the same problem is with people who write 2-3k length content and then buys a lot of shitty $5 links then says that pages with 500 words content and no links rank above him.

yes, i outrank wikipedia for a particular keyword. many do. like others have mentioned: it is about how well you answer user intention and get the user to compete a CTA process on your page.

You need quality content and quality backlinks to rank. If you missed any one then you cann't rank for sure until your site have good authority.

I think its undisputed that Google's goal is to serve high quality relevant content to their users. While people debate over whether certain backlinks hurt or help a site, good quality content is safely assumed to be a good investment not only now but for future google.
