I need Youtube equipment recommendations!

Hey everyone!

I'm about to start my youtube channel which will feature an actual human being recorded on camera while standing in place talking.

What clip on mic should I get?

What lighting should I get?

What camera would you suggest? Someone on here suggested a Cannon T5 for $200 or Iphone 8 and up (I'm a Droid user).

What other tips do you have?

Boya make trusted, cheap mics. Go for something more expensive if you can afford it.

Any lighting will do. Yongnuo make good, cheap lights.

If you don't mind the size of the camera, go for a camera with changeable lenses. The lenses will give you much more flexibility and allow you to get much better videos (but probably cost even more than the camera). You can just start off with the kit lens (the one that comes with it) then add new ones as you get more into it.

If you want something compact, there are plenty of good "vlogging cameras" by companies like Canon and Sony. As you said, phone cameras are decent too.

A good tip would be to try and buy cameras and lenses second hand for a good price. That way, you can sell them for a similar price if you don't like it and can upgrade without putting a load of money down the drain.

Also, if you're going for the cheaper cameras, make sure it has video autofocus. That makes a big difference, especially if you are filming yourself. All modern more expensive cameras will have this.

I am using Canon 200D, Its good if you are starting.
I wouldn't recommend spending lots of money on mic, You can go for Maono AU-A04.

I'd start with building a better lighting setup and background. You can do it within $50-100 budget.

A used Panasonic GH4 will probably get you the best bang for buck.

If you have a smartphone that supports it I would suggest getting the smartLav+ from Rode. That way you don't need to buy a portable audio recorder. (If you do want an audio recorder I would suggest the Zoom H1)

As far as lighting goes I would suggest doing what Wholesale Ted does in her videos. She films in her kitchen where there is a lot of natural light. She probably still uses two main lights and maybe one small hairlight, but the free natural light cuts down on the cost quite a bit.
