Try Jeff Lawson, founder of Twilio. Just search for SaaS companies or pick an industry you like, and look up the founders/CEOs. You'll start to see much more consistency with how they think/work than outliers like bezos and musk. Gates is also an outlier. He's a techie/geek. But for him it was the right place at the right time. He has other qualities, but most people with his kind of mindset don't make good entrepreneurs. His success was more to do with the people he got lucky enough to find himself surrounded by. Ie, Steve Ballmer. Look at Steve's latest company. Steve doesn't code. He is not a tech. But he knows how to build a team of amazing people and solve problems with them.

You don't make money by being smart or skilled. You make money by being the dumbest guy in the room. If you aren't the dumbest guy in the room. You really ARE the dumbest guy in the room ;-)

You need to be the dumbest, but the most high energy/fearless guy though. Note, I'm not saying it's better to be dumb. I'm saying you want to be the least smart person on your team.

Id agree that when looking for "inspiration" or some kind of "system" to follow then looking at people in the 50-500mil range with a business is the way to go.

In my opinion most if not all billionaires are a success of time and appreciation / inflation of how we value and calculate asset worth which the majority of the time is over-inflated.

I am sorry but I don't understand why everyone is declaring this guy some kind of hero. Whilst Jeff has done everything to grow his business in the utmost professional manner with no shortage of attention to quality and reputation among his main concern, like any professional should, Elons been busy abruptly smoking drugs on talk shows, trolling penniless aid workers and sleeping with peoples wives. He is like 50 going on 15.

I'm quite sure would i'd prefer to invite to dinner, let alone trust with a moon landing.

I don't mean because billionaires are out of reach. I'm suggesting $50mil to $500 mil because there's just MORE of them. There aren't that many billionaires, and you're more likely to find an outlier when looking for a billionaire as compared with looking at someone $50 mil to $500 mil. Billionaires are fine if you know how to rule out the outliers like musk, and know WHAT parts of his advice is good, and what's not.

Its not going to kill the market for that service, and another company will step in and take the place of Amazon.

There's tons of products that they won't allow that a competitor could sell, and take some marketshare away. If the company that is competing is more open minded and decides to locate themselves in a low cost place such as Jackson,MS overtime they could potentially start beating Amazon. In the short term like 5-10 years, Amazon doesn't have to worry, but 20-25 years from now these decisions may come back to bite them.

You're upset about him smoking weed on JRE? lol. Why would you care?

I wouldn't call continuous affiliate percentage cuts 'the utmost professional manner'. Jeff obviously doesn't give a shit about his affiliates and their families. If you didn't know, the most recent affiliate cut was during covid19. Rewarding your affiliates with a pay cut during a pandemic doesn't seem like a very professional or kind move if you ask me. I realize that probably wasn't his direct decision, but it's his company and he likely knows about it.

Jeff has monopolized eCommerce. You can argue whether or not that hurts small businesses. It's definitely created a "you can't beat us, but you can join us" scenario. Evidently, over time they'll change the deal to suit them. That's not professional, that's evil.
While on the other hand, Elon is bringing us cheap, fast, mobile internet anywhere in the world. Oh yeah and space travel, electric cars, and underground tunnels.

I think it's clear who is doing more good for humanity.
 
I choose neither of them to be honest. Anybody who is praised too much in the media is automatically suspicious to me.
