Hey Guys,
i'm professional Affiliate Marketer. Reading a lot of stuff here the last years. Thanks a lot to all the guys here writing their stories. Sometimes that helps a lot to reflect my own strategy.
I also decided to share some stuff of my experience and talk about my actual challenges here ;-)
Could be because the performance is great these days and the workload per earning 1$ is lower than normal. Conversion is great.. so i have a lot of time.
Let's start talking about Pinterest.
In my opinion Pinterest is actually a bit like SEO 15 years ago. You can automize a lot and drive huge Traffic from there with really manageable effort.
And it's no rocket science to do that. https://www.blackhatworld.com/members/b2mcd.1172183/ has written a great method here:
But what to do with all that Traffic? What is the best way to monetize in 2020? What do you think?
In my opinion there are a lot of smart possibilities:
- Dropshipping (e.g. Bananas from Ecuador is a great niche)
- sell advertising space (e.g. Classic Content curation shit with funny pics and Adsense/Ad Networks)
- Affiliate (e.g. ebay, or any other Affiliate Network)
- Building E-Mail Lists and rent them or again use the List for Affiliate or your own Shops.
- sell digital products (e.g. How to get really rich in 2h)
- a endless list...
Compared to other traffic channels, I see Pinterest's share of publishers using AdSense and similar models as very high. But if you really want to earn money with that strategy than:
The second most frequently seen publishers in Pinterest are Affiliates for Ebay, Amazon, etsy, etc. After that the Dropshippers and private lable shops etc.
No Matter if you are Affiliate or Dropshipper or Shop owner your target is the same and its a different target than the Adsense Guys have. The Adsense Guys just want as much as possible PageViews and Ad Clicks. The Affiliate/Shop Guys want as much as possible Conversions!
That's actually one Point im stucking in.
The Pinterest InApp Browser. Most of the Pinterest Traffic is mobile from the Pinterest App.
I spend hours of hours to build a redirect switch to get out of the Pinterest InApp Browser to Native Browsers like Chrome for Android or Safari for iOs. The reason why this is so important is very easy. People save their Login Data in the native Browsers (like Paypal, ebay or Amazon Login Data etc.) & cookie/session Tracking is working in native Browsers. Within the inApp Browser you normally have to login again, haven't saved the Passwords there etc... That's really killing Conversions.
Url Genius is doing a great Job here. The Problem is you have to pay for the clicks and it's not possible to link for example to chrome or safari. Just Instagram, Facebook, Amazon and a lot of other stuff...
Let's make an easy example:
- let's say you drive traffic from Pinterest to your Website.
- the target is to sell Bananas in your Dropshipping Store
- you have thousands of clicks because of your Pinterest Strategy and all the nice Banana Pics
- People add the Bananas in the basket. You have a great Add2Cart Conversion
- BUT the Conversion from Click to Sale is really bad... Why?
- Because you are in the Pinterest inApp Browser. No matter what you do they won't let you out of their own Webview InApp Browser. And then people would like to buy. But they don't know their Passwords (paypal, amazon pay, etc). Are not logged in. Don't have that easy Shopping feeling like: "Yippi Yeahh just one click and the Banana is mine".
For Instagram / FB i have built a Browser switch that manages that you are always in native Browser when you open the site. Conversion raised up 50-75%. But in Pinterest that does not work. No js redirect, no iframe, no intent call etc. nothing is working there.
So Pinterest is actually great, but could be much more better if that Problem is solved.
What are you thinking about Pinterest monetization?
What's your actual Pinterest Challenge?
Cheers from Germany.

- so definitely on my List! But later, because...sooo much work
