Affiliate Networks...how do they do it?

Does anyone know how affiliate networks source their offers? Obviously there is the signup form where you can sign up as an advertiser instead of a publisher but I highly doubt this leads to many offers being created.

Do they simply directly contact the company with a proposal? I can't imagine so since it would be far too manual for the number of offers the networks have.

If anyone runs a network or simply knows and is willing to share some insights I would be very appreciative.

When you’re getting started and don’t have a name for yourself, you’ll have to reach a lot of companies and pitch them an offer in hopes of getting them signed up as an advertiser.

Once you get the ball rolling, a lot of advertisers sign up by themselves and a lot get rejected tbh.

Networking is king. That’s why you attend conferences and summits and meet people.

Most advertisers get rejected because they simply don’t have the budget for a profitable campaign. I frequently get sign ups with a budget of less than 5k with dreams of turning that into a double, triple or even a quadruple profit and dealing with them is simply not worth it in the long run.

Then there’s also the politics between different networks where some networks don’t take on advertisers who work with a certain other network.

There’s also tandem dealings where you ask the advertiser to sign up with a sister network in order to work with you and most can’t afford that.

It’s usually the politics though and a lack of knowing the right people.
