"Trust" Badges

I ran a search to see if someone else has posted this before but I could only find one thread but it didn´t match what I wanted.

I believe this would help newbies or less experienced users when they´re looking to purchase a service on the marketplace or downloading something from the Members Download Area.

Adding some sort of "trust" badge like Trusted Uploader, Elite Seller, or something among those lines will definitely help newbies here.

I know the way this should be done is if there´s a way the forum can monitor or track transactions is through offering an escrow service on the forums but, perhaps there can be another way we can get around this.

Maybe based on the amount of time a seller has had an open BST without getting a shit list? That could be one I believe.

I know the number of posts like "Order Placed" or feedbacks type posts or something similar can be easily manipulated and, therefore, skewed the nature of this.

Perhaps, I am just rambling with something that it just can´t be practical.

But what's the point? A person that's considered a "Trusted seller" can still scam the next customer? Just like someone that never sold before can scam the next customer?

I think what the OP is referring to some kind of visual trust. Perhaps there can be criteria involved, it may need some management too

There is the rating system already implemented, but maybe that doesn't fit with your ideas.

I think manipulation could still be a big thing.

We've been told there will be a better marketplace system with BHW 2.0, so lets just wait and see.

That´s beside the point.

Of course, ANYONE at any point can scam someone but, someone with a track record, history, and reputation in this community will be a hell less likely to do that than someone new that just opened a BST for example. THAT¨S the point I was trying to make.

@Roger Marquez i know exactly what you mean, some times you got to break it down lol. I thought the same thing ages ago, how do you know a reputable seller if everybody has mod approval and “feedback”

Star value feedback system instead of positive/negative should be better. The most important thing though is that people should always review a service/seller be it good or bad .

I guess itrader is the closest thing to that and should be suitable. In addition, you can look at the age of the account, amount of posts, amount of likes, membership status, warnings etc.

There was also a "REP" system in the past, which would be something along the lines of what you are talking about, but that system was open to abuse and manipulation as well - actually used to be quite funny when members got "REP bombed" .

I understand the concept , but then again this forum has some of the most lethal Black Hat minds ever spawned by Satan's rear trumpet.
It would be abused and another reason for new users to complain / game / leave.
So you set up a trust system for BST's what to stop competitors down voting it or owners up voting it.

If you introduce nanny state crutches, then people don't do their due diligence and rely on perceived markers/metrics when making choices.
The harder a choice is to make the more research it should take to come to a decision.

What about moderators going incognito through the use of "fake" accounts in order to evaluate a seller/service ? (assuming this doesn't already happen)

It already happens.

The best way to protect users from scammers are to put a high security deposit. Every trust badge or itrader can be cheated.
Seller pays lets say 2.000$ security deposit upfront (depending on the service price can be higher)
Best formula is to take salesprice x 20 = security deposit amount. Nobody can scam easy 20 clients at the same time,
unless it's a exitscam.
If the seller get shitlisted just close the salesthread until case solved.
As soon he finish to sell on bhw seller gets the security deposit back.

It´s sounds maybe complicated but its very simple, we have done something like this on a private trade forum between german and chineese businesses some years ago with succes.

Yeah but lets say i have a service of 200$ backlinks, i have to pay 4k which not everybody is willing to pay and has the capacity. Not to mention that anything could happen to the money, i know i know, its bhw but anything can happen
