Looking for some info about expired domain

I found an expired domain with 36DA and travel niche.
It has very good backlinks and old articles (Oddly enough, it ks mostly about travel to my small city ahah)

With archive.org I can see it had good history but it was hacked(?) in December and someone deleted all articles and posted some products about shoes!

I'm trying to understand how expired domain are working, I'm reading many threads (even bought a crawler) but I still don't get many things

How is this website to the eyes of Google? Old 300+ articles are completely not indexed by Google but it still has good backlinks

I think you need to check backlinks also.

If someone posted content related to shoes, there is possibility of spam links.

You can spend $10 to register domain and someone like @Nargil can really tell whether domain is good or not.

I can see it still has great relevant backlinks from other travel blogs or even the websites of official places link to this blog!
I want to learn more than understanding if this one is good!

How does google behave if this website was transformed to e-commerce (5 months ago) and lost all old indexed articles?
Is it still good if it has still very good bakclinks?

Hacked... sure. Has been abused as PBN or a spammy money site. I honestly doubt it has any decent backlink profile at all.

Domain might be completely manually penalized, or just waiting for the penalty to happen or simply lame and unrankable.

Not sure what's hard to understand here. You abuse something, it stops working. Same with material things, same with people.

It wasn't abused as pbn! It was changed to e-commerce in january but up to december 2020 it was a great travel blog!
...a bunch articles are still indexed and ranking on keywords tho

Are you honestly just waiting until someone here tells you what you want to hear? And that isn't an abuse to you? Feel free to send it over PM, I am absolutely sure that domain has been abused to hell and back. Especially if it's scraped.
