Hi,
I am trying to import 1 million post to my wordpress site using WP ALL IMPORTER -FREE
current batch is 1 million there may be many more posts later.
but when i import about 75000 posts to my site the import priocess got very slow. Currently i am usng shared hosting on namecheap. seems i can't host my site there. may be i need VPS.
Can some one recommend me the ideal hosting plan for my wordpress website with 2 mn +posts
I have a poor budget

Poor budget, a lot of posts. Did you even monetize that? How you can have a lot of posts and you don't earn money? You should look for that. Because having 1 website with many posts and it doesn't generate revenue, maybe is a good idea to discontinue it or sell.

With low budget, you won't find a good solution for that. Maybe Kimsufi servers are cheap. If you can't afford the prices of Kimsufi, sorry to say. Maybe it's time to close or sell your website.

@ContentExpert I think WPX is not the solution here, they don't allow excessive usage of CPU and MySQL Requests, if the website is bigger. It will hurt. Kimsufi is the best way IMO.

Get a dedicated server on kimsufi, soyourstart or hetzner auction.. if you want to use vps make sure you buy vps with dedicated CPU,that will allowed you to use 100% CPU that you rent (don't use vps with shared CPU, you have a high chance getting suspended when you import so much post)... Also consider using server/vps with minimum of 4GB of RAM (16GB or more will be good) and use ssd drive if possible. you can try rent vps from buyvm, netcup, contabo or OVH just make sure you got dedicated cpu

If you don't have budget then try to import in small batch if possible (like 10.000 post or less at once)..

Go with Closte.

Thank You all for your valuable comments as per your recomendation i tried to buy kimsufi and ended up buying at OVH
now i have installed WordPress there

i can't find the way to add domain and to add plugins to wordpress it ask ftp info. I could not find in the email (or anywhere)

I have tried google and support tickets (both did not work) can someone please guide me to add

01. domain
02. find ftp info (to add plugins to WordPress)

Why didnt you split the import file into parts? That was the first thing to do I guess.

Lol. Probably the funniest thing I have read today.

No, shared hosting is not going to work. Oh, and you need cheap.. right? It's not gonna happen.

You will need a scalable infrastructure. Just think, what will happen if you get one visitor per post parallelly? You will see smoke, lol.

As for importing, you will either need to import batch by batch (there are some sql scripts which let you do this.. google it), or you will need to do it from ssh. Everything else will probably timeout/be unreliable.

what kind of service that you bought from OVH ? cloud, vps, dedicated server or webhosting ? if you buy webhosting, i don't think it will be good enough for your purpose unless you split that posts into several batches ....

He can go cheap on a VPS. But since that idea didnt spark for him he is clueless how to set it up

Ultimately, he will need to scale it up somehow. If his site receives no traffic, it should be okay. The problem will start when he starts getting traffic. Also "cheap" is a vague term. He needs to specify the budget. It's not gonna be $10/yr for sure lol.

in his case ill consider CHEAP around 10-20$ per month for a VPS

Example:

RAM 12288 MB
CPU 4 x 3 GHz vCPUs
SSD 60 GB
BANDWIDTH 150 Mbps
TRAFFIC Unlimited
9.99 € mo.

Thank you for your time

Do you have any experience configuring and managing linux server and webserver ? With your posts it seems you doesn't know anything about managing a server (dedicated or vps) and also not doing some research before you buy..

Vps with dedicated resource and dedicated server usually more powerful and better than shared hosting, so it will suitable for your use case if you choose correctly but you also need a lot more knowledge such as managing linux security, installing and configuring webserver,php,MySQL/mariaDB, ftp etc.

For your domain problems, try this one :
1. Set A record of your domain pointing to IP address of your server
2. Login to wordpress installed on your vps and change url in wordpress settings - general to your domain.
This will works if wordpress installed as default site.

For your ftp problems (and also other problems you will get such in the future) you cannot solve that if you don't have knowledge to running your own server, so your choice is learn by yourself (ovh already give link to their knowledge base), hire an admin, or find other providers that offer fully managed vps or dedicated sever.

Yes actually i have no atleast basic knowledge to run server my own. Anyway thank you for your guidance and time. really appreciate it.

there did you got the 1 mil DB?
Have you already had this site up?

You have vps and there is no ftp created, you need to create one yourself.

Let us know how OVH works for you.
