Elementor forcing bluehost and sitegrounds

Hi members

So I posted here on the forum asking what is the best builder for a realtor in southern California. I stated I was going to use godaddy because they have an IDX plugin, forum plugin, and members page plugin.

But alot of members replied that godaddy is a ripoff and to use Elementor. Upon signing up for Elementor...it took me to a page right away that said you have to suscribe and pay a monthly fee for Bluehost or Siteground to work with elementor.

this is obviosuly a HUGE BAIT AND SWITCH. They dont even mention these two webhosting services at all on their front pages but when you go to sign up ...BOOM.

So I am already pretty mad at this, but wanted to ask if anyone has any experience or feedback with either two of these web hosting services

Siteground is good. I personally use them and they are very helpful. I've never used Bluehost but they have a bad reputation.

Elementor is just a Wordpress plugin. To install Elementor, you need Wordpress. To install Wordpress, you need hosting.

You can use any hosting service for this - not just Bluehost or Siteground. Bluehost and Siteground just happen to pay some of the highest affiliate commissions in the industry so Elementor want you to sign up to them through their affiliate link so they can make more money from you.

Did you pay for elementor already? If not, the free version should be good enough for your needs.

On wordpress, you will need a theme. I'd recommend the free version of Astra.

Thanks for your reply. No I have not paid for Elementor yet.... I am not sure if I even want it. It was jsut recommended to me and I am not even sure if it has the features I need which is the folllowing (an internet search could give me my answer):

Members only section
IDX (Real estate MLS listings and search tools for visitors)
SEO

You have signed up for Elementor ibstead if Godaddy?

I don't think elementor is forcing you to use bluehost or siteground. I guess those are the two hosts where Elementor is confirmed to work.

There is no way the developers can test their plugin on all the webhosts out there. So they are recommending the two hosts they know will work. (Plus the affiliate commission)

Elementor plugin should work with most of the webhosts where you can install wordpress.

I think I will do this, but if I do it will just be to get me started correct? I dont want to have to pay a freelancer monthly atop website and domain costs. Its a realtor website so I am the only employee pretty much.

Yes, I went on Elementors website, clicked the free package and filled out the form..and then BOOM on the second page it prompted me to pay for a subscription for those two web hosts

Godaddy ALSO has its own webpage builder and I thought it had great features but then the members on thsi forum recomended agaisnt it.

I consider it forcing because it would not let me proceed to finish the registration UNTIL I had a paying account with either on of those web hosts.

With Godaddy I could do all of these that is why I wanted to use it for my page builder. But everyone advises against it.

What pagebuilder for real estate do you suggest I use then?

Dude you need to learn some stuff about websites, hosting, wordpress and plugins before you do anything, otherwise you will have a very bad time.

stay away from godaddy, one of the worst host out there! Will charge you for every single thing possible and the loading speeding of the host is horrendous! Not to mention the support, go to TrustPilot and read some of the 1 star reviews, I was one of theM there...

You can use elementor for free, elementor is a PLUGIN For a Wordpress website it has nothing to do with the host you choose! It’s a amazing website builder also you can do a lot of things with it I had build my entire website with it, but as a free user you will have limited options. There is plenty of tutorial on YouTube just have a look. I also recommend siteground , I switched from godaddy to siteground, amazing!

There's a pro version (paid) and free version. They are recommending hosting on their site. Take a step back dude and familiarise yourself with hosting

Never looked at it mate but I'm sure I've seen Elementor in @Festinger vault.

Why not just sign up for a membership on his site and get it from there to install on your own hosting.

He's a member on here and has a membership site with loads of plugins and themes just search for it and take a look.

Doing it this way you can at least try it out for a lower price and if it's not for you he may have something else you could use in there too.

All clean original files and instructions on how to activate etc.

That is what i attempted to do. Was to sign up for the free verson and before I could even finish the sign up ..IT PROMPTED ME TO SUSCRIBE TO BLUEHOST OR SITEGROUNDS and literally said on that page:

"In order to start working with Elementor, you need to get a hosting plan.Here are two options that we recommend."

But it gave you no option of linking your own webhosting source (if you had one)

Just tried... went to their website.
Clicked 'Get Started', entered an email, and then I got a prompt to download the plugin.

I think your missing the point everybody is telling you

You need a domain and hosting
A free domain might work, But you need to buy hosting
A lot of people are recommending siteground, I've been using bluehost with zero problems for the last 5 years
Very cheap

To use any plugin elementor includes you need Wordpress and paid hosting

once you have hosting and a domain you can test all the plugins and themes you can care for

Loads of them available free and nulled pro. even some with pro licenses

You can get hosting from as little as 3 - 4 bucks a month and a domain for 99c

You can more than likely find themes specially for realtors
which will save you a lot of time and money
So go for it

When you login to Elementor it asks you whether you have a site or not. If you choose no, it shows you the hosting options OP is referring to.

OP, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the internet, but you are not going to be able to build a real estate site with any free page builder. This is what you need to do.

1. Register a domain (namecheap.com)
2. Purchase hosting (I recommend Dreamhost)
3. Install Wordpress
4. Buy and install this theme, this is the #1 selling real estate theme on ThemeForest.net. https://themeforest.net/item/real-homes-wordpress-real-estate-theme/5373914
If you read the listing it says it is compatible with the "iHomefinder Optima Express IDX plugin".
5. Play around and get familiar with it, then add your content. Purchase any other plugins needed.

Ok... first of all, to decide which website builder you want, tell us the features you need.


Second thing...you need to understand the basics:

Compare building a website to building a house

Hosting = bare land
Domain = street address
Self hosting vs website as a service = owning vs renting
Elementor/oxygen/Divi = Contractor/self build/ready to move homes

So, depending on what you need wix.com or squarespace may be ok for your needs....although I don't really like either. This is the renting model. They have complete templates. You just have to go in and decorate (add your own words and pictures). You pay a monthly or yearly price and you're in and done.

If you want to host and manage your own site, you will need somewhere to build it. That's the land or hosting. I personally use Namecheap.com for my hosting.

You will also need a domain (address). Obviously, that how people find you. Namecheap is a great option again.

Now, to the building part. Hire someone to build or build it yourself using oxygen (my preference but has a steeper learning curve) or elementor (which is great but can tend to load slowly).

You seem to be starting right from the beginning. If you sit down with this for 3 hours a day, in a month, you'll have a pretty solid understanding on what to do but it will still take you a while to create what you want.

So, go the Hire a Freelancer route or keep asking questions. good luck!
