Google releasing a large update today

For me the big problem is new posts. I'm stuck on third page with my new posts on main keyword with 3k quality words while other shitty 0 da website are top with 500 words.

Many say the same thing but forget 1 key thing... 2k+ words doesn't make your content quality, actually it makes it of low quality most of the time as you add a lot of fluff to make it so long.
Here's an example... today I search for "how to check if instagram account is shadow banned", most of the articles on the first page start with what the shadow ban is, then why instagram uses it, then might add some stuff about engagement.... So about 1k-2k words of fluff I didn't look for and then finally I get a few paragraphs of how to deal with my problem. Is this sort of content helpful? No... it most likely causes high bounce rate as nobody wants to read a dissertation on what a shadow ban is.

I'm not saying that your content is not good but many times short content offers better answers.

LOL, so that means fluffy content works and it ranks on page 1, don't contradict yourself. We all are here for 1st page rankings?

Forgot to mention it... For many years I use Bing as my default search engine.

And it's not the point I was making... The point is that the fluffy content ranks but it doesn't mean it's the best content and just because you have a 5k words article it doesn't mean you'll be in top 3... try reading my post again.
In the example I used, there was a page with 200-300 words which answered my question within 15 seconds.

Their updates looks simply like a game. Goals are simple:

1. Rank more organic content, which is not created automatically and ranked intentionally - one thing about it though: They can't tell really which is which, so they just try to make it look to be not worth time to invest in low quality content and ranking. The harder is SEO - Less SEO spammers there are, actually most of them becomes more serious about it and they actually start creating good content.

Of course with these updates there comes new bugs, etc. For example you can still find quick ways to rank. Or some searches doesn't make sense anymore.

They had good ranking system long time ago, they just don't want us to figure it out and to be outplayed, so it's a fucking game now. Updating to no sense and then updating back to normal. Playing with keyword categories, groups, locations and so on. I don't really think anymore that they are updating the entire search system everytime nor that they are announcing each update.

So in summary, they don't let themselves to be figured out and outplayed. We want to figure them out and outplay, so we could rank high and earn shitloads of monkeys. It's never ending game leading to more and better content and average to good search results.

2. Advertising. Now when I get more of these nosense results I noticed myself noticing and clicking their advertisings more often.
I think it has something to do with levering the advertising results and user experience.

Have you noticed they are ranking more books.google.com ? It looks like they are promoting their service. I didn't even knew their book store exists before it started ranking on almost every search.

I believe it is definitely leading to something very dynamical, where it will not only rank the most authoritative websites, but will try to guess what website should be visited by who, at what timing and for what. Sometimes I feel that it already happens when I get different results from different devices.

Anyway, keeping by their rules and making them feel that our website is authoritative we should be good. And about how to look authoritative they already have answered multiple times. It's all pretty logical too. Another thing they need content creators like us, that let's them offer more quality and interesting results to their users + collect more data.

So continue building your SEO websites, add quality to them and continue earning! :p

it's just my 0.2, what you think about future of SEO and their updates?

^ If they are playing a game with their ranking updates we just need to find a Game Theory Optimal solution to do black hat SEO going forward.

I agree with you I can't tell you how many times I was looking for a simple answer and had to go through a wall of text (like what is it, what is that, why should you been using it and I could go on and on with this shit) to find a sentence or two that would answer my search query. Clearly written for google bots, and right now it ranks, not the best form user experience. Maybe one day google will get their priority right but I'm not holding my breath.

Back on topic, even though they claim the update has 100% been rolled out I still see huge volatility in ranking, bigger than at the beginning of the update. I guess I'll wait another week before making any changes.

I totally agree with these 2 points (google has already been fined in the past for promoting their own services and thus manipulating the results.

1. Adverting. Everybody "googles" everything so they will still use google and thus giving shit results will hugely benefit google as people will click more on well optimised ads rather than on organic results.
2. Google books. If I enter a sentence in the search... books.google.com is all over the place. It's like for long tail keywords it's only google books.

And to add something... there's youtube. More and more results are from youtube.
Seriously... if I want to watch a video then I go to YT but since it's theirs they put their own properties everywhere in the organic results.

YT, google books and ads... then add some just spun articles in the serp... SORRY guys... no space is left for your sites.

I guess, I used the wrong example in my post.
Imagine you google "london weather" and the top results explain you the meaning of "weather", then explain you what weather is good for people, then mention the countries which have nice weather... them more fluff... and then 1 hour later you finally get to the point that it's sunny and warm in London.

There's another point... I checked the weather in London, and I bounced. Is it bad? NO, I got all I wanted but if I go back to serp and check another site for london weather then it's bad.
So many people discuss bounce rate but they don't know which bounce rate is good and which is bad. Google knows which people bounce and go for the other results but web site owners don't know it.

I'm not sure about the bounce rate. I don't see anything wrong in getting an answer from multiple sources(websites). Wikipedia does NOT know it all. Let's say my search query is 'st maarten news' to get the news related to my search I click on all the links in SERP that show 'maarten news' as one website covers some topics and another different. It's next to impossible for one website to cover it all (even though they try). And I don't see how me 'bouncing around' or clicking on different links on SERP related to my search can negatively impact a website in terms of SEO and ranking. I just don't.

Your on the right track! It's also about language learning. Before the update a lot of first page content was sectional rewrites of other articles already online. The same information, just written in a different way. This update seems to have devalued this as copied content or at the very least dropped it's rank as it's not adding extra value.

Just rewriting the web, isn't going to cut it anymore and people need to learn how to inject "out of the box" information to differentiate them from competition. One huge impact I've noticed is "real" photographs, and of course this images will have embedded data which google can follow and cross reference with all other indicators on site.

Writing style also has a huge impact. The less mechanical the better. It's all about indicating you have real world experience of the subject, are writing in a human style and aren't just adding content to try and rank. Your writing to help others, because you've had a similar problem.

Plagiarism checkers, SEO writing plugins and even grammar checkers can't help! People who write about a topic they are passionate about tend to go off on little tangents and include information about their personal life.

Links, social media, domain, content and media all leave a data footprint, which can be interpreted by an algorithm to gauge whether or not 1) Your a real person 2) You understand and have experience of a subject.

The game has changed, adapt or die!

This is total bullsh**t!

I've a website that got boosted with the update, its all thin contents, but the one with more words per page, where I spend more time researching and giving first hand advice without ever rewriting or copying any one tanked big time.

Google is now a gambling house and the house will always win. The only way to stay afloat for long (you'll definitely loss ranking at some point) is to diversify; texts, videos, apps, offer services, and more, and also invest wisely.

Did the keyword bleeding stop for anyone? It seems that one of my websites should be reaching zero in about 4 months or so.

We do tech related reviews on our website. We also have our own photo studio and do at least 6-12 photos per review-post. Since the new Google Update in May we're getting outranked by fake-review (without self-made photos) low quality affiliate-websites, which are full of spam. We've got links from techspot and some other high DA domains, just for one specific review. And all of a sudden we're getting outranked by a 0 backlinks fake-review affiliate. Ah and our review is from March 2020. Their review is from 2017, full of spelling errors.

I'm not saying the theory is perfect or there aren't any exceptions to the rule. It is however better than saying google made a mistake and hoping they change things back. A testable idea, rather than bitching!

Not for me. I'm losing even more keywords daily after the update is "completed".
