Paypal negative balance can't access account.

I have a negative balance in my Paypal account (-100$ or so). But I didn't do anything and didn't even log in for many months. Now when I try to login it says can't login contact customer support or something like that.

Call them up & you should receive an email to set a new password. Happens quite often but not the negative balance.

I don't understand how you can get negative balance with PayPal. I'm only allowed to pay with the money I have in my wallet. If I spend more, they will charge it to a credit card

Well, you can go negative.

Say you receive $100 payment and withdraw or spend it. And then the person who sent you the $100 does a chargeback and gaypal gives them the money back.

Now you go -$100 negative and black helicopters are looking for you.

I forgot about my paypal for a lot of time and logged in after without an issue. So the negative balance is probably the issue.

What could've happened;
- You haven't logged in for a while, so they locked your account, and meanwhile someone chargedbacked a previous transaction.
- You have been hacked, and the hacker used your account to scam someone thus making your balance negative.

In any case; call PayPal, they tend to be A LOT more helpful over the phone.

I didn't see anything on my email, so I don't think it's hacked.
I thought you couldn't call them during this covid situation, what's the number I could call ?
