Hi all

I've been a reader of this forum for several years now and know theres alot of expertise on here. Recently I've thought about a new mobile app idea which I believe has real potential to become popular. The problem is I don't have any experience with this kind of thing or even creating a website.

What is advisable in this kind of situation? And who should I speak with bearing in mind issues such as patent because obviously i dont want anybody taking my idea. Any help towards this will be highly appreciated.

Unless you have a working product its just waste of money applying for patent, you should get some trustable person to develope your idea into a complete application (mostly freelancers works in this case go with starter if you are scared of your idea getting stolen). Before all this have documented perfectly including every single details of the application this could help you improve and take to potential people about this idea. I also in same phase that you are in few weeks backs and these are things i learned what to do next. Please let me know if want anymore help.

Thank you

The thing is how do I find trustworthy freelancers, would you advise fiverr? That's what I'm currently doing planning all the different features etc. I'm also considering a website to dovetail it with but I'm not completely sure yet. Thanks for replying to me anyway!

1. The price of your idea is 0$ (sorry)
2. The price of your finished product is 0$ (sorry)
3. Your product becomes valuable only when you have users. (and this is the hardest to achieve)

Nowadays, you should rather talk about your product than keep it a secret.
I have seen dozens of projects with a "super-valuable idea" that are still unknown to anyone.
And their owners are ruined.

I think its a valid concern and will agree to what is suggested above. Find someone you trust and weigh your idea, and develop. Then get on with it

First thing you need investor or your personal investment at least of 1000$ if you are hiring from India it goes higher in other countries. This 1000$ investment is just to get your demo version of application. With this demo you can reach some investors and you can start scaling. And don’t go for Fiverr or any other freelancer sites go through connection like linkedin or even through here, still if you are stuck let me know!! Will try to help in some ways!!

Wow $1000 is too much, I'm a poor student that only has $100 to invest currently. Perhaps I'll just start off by building a website and driving traffic to it before developing the app.

You need to find someone trustworthy and convinced him that your idea is great.

You need to make it a partner of that idea.

Starting a new app with some random freelancer will drive nowhere .. Between the idea you have now and what will be the end result, there is a huge gap.

first you need to make white paper. In order to find your investors. There are many sites where you can place your startup.

If you can’t invest then it’s better to watch tutorials and build your first prototype by urself and go to investors. 1000$ is what you need to pay if you are hiring someone to work on your projects.

you have idea,
build it regarding popular keyword
get active users

patents are for inventions.

i dont think an app idea can be protected
e.g. expedia cant say we were the first to make an app that allows people to get flight/hotel price alerts so nobody else can do it now.

doesnt work like that

Yes true that makes sense, just I feel my idea is something that hasn't been developed yet.

I think I will go down the path of building a website firstly then after work towards an app. Feel this is the cheapest way.

Thanks for all the replies; highly appreciative!

Sorry to sound naive, but what does this mean?

You need to research the niche: your product is useful? to what category? how can you promote it? how an you improve it?
Then find a great team to help you with creating the app and launch it.See how people react, get reviews and work on improving.
If it's something really good for basic needs, your app will find it's way and become popular.
But you need more than a good idea of an app to start with.

How do I go about finding people to help me create the app?

With a budget of $ 100? no way...just start building the app by yourself

Yh I figured; but where can such people be found? I don't know anybody that's into designing apps.

Would you recommend creating a website first?
