Corona GOV Domain name?

Posting under a new account for what will become obvious reasons.

Recently I have been working with Public Health England on building their track and trace program which will be launched imminently ( next few days ) and today they announced what it will be called / referred to publically. I had a quick check and the full domain is available and considered buying it, but then thought that it could very eassily be tracked back to myself ---

Should I buy it and potentially flip it on another market?

How can you buy a .gov.uk domain? You need special requirements to do that. If is under .co.uk, then go for it. Depends on how large the team is, they will norrow down the results to a few people that knew about it.

any random Joe can register a gov.uk? If thats the case that extension worth shit. If thats not the case then they will know who requested registration

Title mentions to GOV domain name (NOT available to register for average Joes).
In your post you mention a dot uk name (nhs dot uk).
What do you need exactly??

From what I understood, what you're trying to do is literally what @proxygo said. I mean, no judgy-judgy but why try to rip other people's work on your behalf?

If you want to make a profit by buying a .gov domain = I wish you the best of luck and don't drop the SOUP!

I doubt they will buy a domain but will have download links directly from governmental websites.

Only question is how many Type Ins will the domain get from the app users .

thus biting the hand that you where working for to make a quick buck
on the domain, still scummy as the app/domain will be used to track

@OP it really depends on how many Type Ins this Domain could get from the app directly.
I doubt there will be any interest on a domain without traffic just because it has the same name like the app.

that i do. its why in 10 yrs on bhw ive never been asked for a refund
i do the right thing to keep people happy, i dont use scummy tactics
even if i could make more, i prefer the road less traveled, the honest
hard one, ps leprechauns as well, so top of the mornin to ya
