Google releasing a large update today

I will share what I noticed for now
I had around 150k visitors per month on my niche site and I was growing every day, bouncer rate of 2%, white hat, nice in-depth posts.
First, I was removed from every snippet that was bringing me a lot of traffic, and now my posts are on page 2 or 3.
Sites that are now in that position of snippets.
First site - every post is copypaste from other sites. No SSL certificate.
Second site- created 30 days ago, no backlinks
Third site- hardcore blackhat SEO with a spam score of 30%, terrible page speed...
Fourth site- scamming site.....
I can see a lot of youtube videos like 10 of them ranking better than me.
So all I can say is tnx Google. If this does not change in 2 weeks, then its time for hardcore blackhat.

Feel you bro. Exactly same sh*t with my site.

And yeah, if it stays like this, I’m gonna use the same technique like I did in 2012: Spam the shit out of exact match anchor backlinks everywhere with GSA or something.

According to my analysis, google give more credit to authority sites on this core update.

Some have more keyword density some less I am somewhere in the middle. Titles and tags are similar but what I noticed now while searching google.
Lest say my Title is Best Paint for wall
Other site Title - Best tips for a new artist
User googles for Best paint for wall
I am on page 2 while another site is ranked better than me because they have "...best paint for a new artist" as a sentence on the page .....
Just wtf.....
And I forgot to mention that Pinterest is now ranking better than me...

so a total cluster fuck that you are seeing : - )

i have noticed that sites that have over-killed exact match anchor backlinks are ranking better now

I see good movement, hope stay like this and even better

I've been there when my other sites got tanked.

I hope this update sorts itself out soon i have been affected so badly with this, This month my income is down by 70% so far. Im hoping i will bounce back once the google dance has ended but i must admit i am not confident this will happen.I am just doing what i normally do and continuing to writing my articles the same way as normal. I have not messed around or tried to fix anything until this settles down and i know for sure. The strange thing in April i saw a massive spike in traffic from Australia and Newzealand and i was getting some good pay but this only lasted around a week and they dropped out. Does anyone know if google did a silent update last month too?

It is the same dates everybody else is posting here? The boost started the 5. of May.

What is interesting is that the CTR went down from 41% to 11%, so the site must appear for a lot more (irrelevant) search queries. Still the numbers of clicks are up because of the high impressions. I also have sites going the other way, lost 10-20% not more.

I haven't read the entire thread so I confess I hadn't seen several members reporting the same date.

Google announced this update on May 4 so it makes sense that several members noticed a big jump on May 5.

Interesting that GSC is showing such accurate data. They wanna break ahrefs and semrush?

Ahrefs and SEMrush are now getting the heat. Google is pushing the market for sure.

maybe due to lock down period ??? also does influence some niche.

for me music , entertainment stuff surprisng get hit. organic traffic drop a lot
I don't think so, because i see my targeted kw got ranking even is only in position 2. Since one of my target kw have featured snippet from big site. :D

That's bad. Hope you recover soon, i heard this update targeted clickbait title. Even not really sure..

Sometimes when I search related to entertainment such as games or movies, I get 2 pages of youtube results. The first 20-25 results are purely youtube videos. It's really annoying.

Maybe someone finds it useful.
I compared the traffic data of hundred of websites that are the same or similar to my niche to find out which websites are affected by the Google core update.

I noticed that the 0815 affiliate reviews sites that do not review the products themselves are more affected by the update than those that have tested the products on their own.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but all sites that have lost traffic are not sites that really review the Amazon products.
And the websites that don't affiliate sites but their traffic has increased since the update are in this case local sites.

Yesterday the traffic picked up a bit, but down today. The SERP positions are pretty much the same. Weird.

How does Google know whether a site owner tested it out or not? Third wheel? It can't even tell a PBN from a legit blog. :D

Also, some people test a bunch of products and don't test other products in that category, but write about them all.

And it still puzzles me that sites with gibberish instead of articles went up with this update.:poop:

Based on the images on the websites.

Yes at the beginning but that's normal. This should return to normal in 1-2 weeks.

Guys, I have been analyzing different sites and what I am finding out is that sites that are authority, good content, and very strong link profile have lost lots of traffic. This update makes no sense. Check out these two sites, popular adult toy sites. What does all those sites have in common? They have reviews. Could this update have anything to do with sites that have their own review?
