Google releasing a large update today

I think you should stop worrying and keep working exactly as usual, especially if you do quality work. It is normal that the update of the Google algorithm reset all the rankings to zero and in my opinion they will use the time spent on the page and the bounce rate to redo the rankings (the famous variations/dances). In other words, the sites that took advantage of backlinks to spoof positions will drop and those who deserve to go up will rank high in the SERPs. Just prepare to lose a few weeks of traffic for now.

I think that you're totally wrong, making things up or just guessing, first off, even though I distrust almost everything google says, bounce rate and time spent on a page are not ranking factors. Before my website was hit with the silent update on Jan 9th which I believe now has been implemented into the core ago, my time on a page was very high and had a low bounce rate. After that update I see the opposite as google for some reason is sending useless traffic. If your website(s) have not been hurt by this update, enjoy it while it lasts. But trust me, bounce rate and time spent on a page have nothing to do with it.

Can you develop this? don't you think that this period of confinement have simply changed the behavior of your visitors? If you sell vacation rentals or swimwear, will your visitors behave the same way?
I don't know if you know what I mean.
I imagine that your customers always comes by the same channels/keywords? how does that invalidate my theory? After all it is always about our impressions and experience which can be interpreted differently, your answer interests me.

Edit: I just reread and understand that your problem is older. In this case it is also possible that a competitor artificially increasing your bounce rate...

I think Google is just like Amazon. Content and experience are just vague things they talk about, what matters to them is profit.

My website has nothing to do with travel, rentals, or any industry that could have been impacted by COVID-19. To add to my previous post regarding time on a page and bounce rate and why it doesn't matter.

When I search for let's say 'how to optimize windows 10' click on the first few links what's on SERP and see a website with that STUPID table of contents like:
-what is windows,
-what are windows update
-why should you optimize windows
-what should you know before optimizing windows

and I could go on and on with those STUPID questions. When I see it I IMMEDIATELY leave that website as I'm sick and tired of it. Even though leaving it has a negative impact on their bounce rate and time on page metrics those websites as of right now rank high even though my answer is berried down below and hard to find. I'll stick with a website that gives me the exact answer right away, unfortunately, those no longer rank in the top ten. It just tells you how STUPID google's AI is assuming I'm asking for something I'm not. Rewarding pure garbage and spam I'm not interested in.

As for:

It may seem like my problem is older but it correlates with May 2020 update. You'd understand that if you read my posts above. And I have no idea what 'it is also possible that a competitor artificially increasing your bounce rate...' means, such a thing does NOT exist as bounce rate is NOT a ranking factor.

I will share what I noticed for now
I had around 150k visitors per month on my niche site and I was growing every day, bouncer rate of 2%, white hat, nice in-depth posts.
First, I was removed from every snippet that was bringing me a lot of traffic, and now my posts are on page 2 or 3.
Sites that are now in that position of snippets.
First site - every post is copypaste from other sites. No SSL certificate.
Second site- created 30 days ago, no backlinks
Third site- hardcore blackhat SEO with a spam score of 30%, terrible page speed...
Fourth site- scamming site.....
I can see a lot of youtube videos like 10 of them ranking better than me.
So all I can say is tnx Google. If this does not change in 2 weeks, then its time for hardcore blackhat.

I noticed a slight bump in one of the assets but i think too early to if this was related to something specific.

My experience after 4 may. Niche News :-)

My niche all competitors go down by 30-60%. Huge well researched articles outranked by pinterest :poop:

Of course it is.

Now in google news and discover I find only obscure sites, with extremely many ads, which are very difficult to load full of click bait and fake news. Google hit again.

I hope that at the end of this update everything will recover and make sense.

0 backlinks... just organic. We don't know what is a PBN

how is your on-page optimization compared to the 4 sites that you mentioned? do they have more keyword density, more keyword usages in tags like H, description, title, etc.?

wait for 2 weeks.hope this mess will clear

hmmm.... someone is paying you to do seo for them, and their avg position is 47?!
Not exactly lol.
I´m working there and just did a few things here and there.
Also, that's quite normal I think.
We have about 1400 articles listed (indexed) and all from well-known brands in Germany.
There are often about 20 different Online Shops, which list the same Articles, and also there's amazon + eBay on top of that.
Also, I´m not an expert. Just Something I looked into.

It's difficult to rank If everybody has the same listing. Exact the same pictures, Product title, and description. The only unique thing is the shop name. And This is more of a local shop.
This is a typical competitor of us:

If you have any tips, let me know :)

That is complete devastation.

Some have more keyword density some less I am somewhere in the middle. Titles and tags are similar but what I noticed now while searching google.
Lest say my Title is Best Paint for wall
Other site Title - Best tips for a new artist
User googles for Best paint for wall
I am on page 2 while another site is ranked better than me because they have "...best paint for a new artist" as a sentence on the page .....
Just wtf.....
And I forgot to mention that Pinterest is now ranking better than me...

Wait. Your GSC showed data this recent?

That big boost is probably not related to the update yet.

It is the same dates everybody else is posting here? The boost started the 5. of May.

What is interesting is that the CTR went down from 41% to 11%, so the site must appear for a lot more (irrelevant) search queries. Still the numbers of clicks are up because of the high impressions. I also have sites going the other way, lost 10-20% not more.
