KGR With a Twist (Case Study Round Two)

Just a quick update to this.

I'd forgotten these were getting #0 snippets in the SERPS despite being entirely duplicate content. Made a few changes to the call to action and the CTR shot right up which makes a lot of sense if you saw the crappy one I had before. This isn't a lot better but it's about 4x the traffic already.

Should have done that a while ago.

Starting to do some work now on scaling this more. It's entirely a numbers game now so the more posts I can put together the better. This also means taking it slowly between different accounts so to make that viable I need a whole bunch of different niches and accounts warming up.

I removed a couple of bottlenecks to finding KGR terms.

Really interesting case study so far. I am surprised how many don't realize the value in this as opposed to following the "income school" crap.

And as for the quote above, could you elaborate more on your current KGR strategy?

This project is currently sitting on an all-time high for SEO traffic yesterday. Multiple new #1 spots and a 30% spike in traffic and sales. I haven't dug too much into it yet but there's about to be a big algo update rolling out over the next few days. My hope is that was it but the ranks might plummet later in the week I'll see what happens.

I've been a bit caught up with another project to get as much done on the scaling side of things as I'd like. I should have more free time this week to really focus on this if it looks like the algo isn't going to damage it. I've started working on the automation side of things to make the scaling smoother but there's still a bunch of work to do before I can get the numbers I want.

I did check through some of the first test batches to see if there was any difference in the manually written content vs the automated AI content. They're both ranking in the top spots which... doesn't bode well for white hat but I don't want to fully commit to this because it reads like junk and won't convert very well. I think I'm going to end up somewhere in the middle with a semi-automated version.

It'll take some manual work but that's a healthy ROI that could quickly pay for a VA to help scale things further. I have someone in mind I'll reach out and see how busy they are.

Each to their own at the end of the day. There is no right or wrong just different strategies. Some think that KGR isn't enough traffic or black hat strategies are too short term or risky. I personally think it's riskier spending so much time or money in single authority sites but that's just my choice.

For the context of anyone skimming through - the quote was about finding more KGR terms. I still haven't played with the numbers properly yet (I do really want to test higher traffic and push that 0.25 idea on scale) but it wasn't anything interesting. I fixed some of the code to remove myself as a bottleneck so it'll just keep finding something to do and not have to wait for me. It also means I can feed it more root terms for a niche that uncovers some KGR terms I might have otherwise missed.

Yesterday broke yet another all-time high with another bump of around 20% from the previous day. The update won't have finished rolling out yet but so far that's looking positive. The new test batch I put up recently (I want to say last week?) brought in the first lead yesterday which is great since I've been testing that niche with paid traffic lately and it's an expensive one to get involved in.

I have one or two more things on my to-do list which I'm hoping to clear today/tomorrow and then I can start focusing on this properly.

Further #1 spots for the second last test batch yesterday. Traffic hit another all-time high yesterday. Not a 20% jump this time but the highest it's had so far. It's got a steady stream of traffic to the offer and while there's a risk in doing it the way I'm planning, I think it's time to finally do this properly.

I've picked out a couple of niches and filtered out a few hundred KGR terms between them. I don't want to post everything in one day so I'm going to have to drip the content out over time. Doing it between different niches makes this a little easier.

The main delay has been just how little I want to work on the content for this. I can automate most of it but it still requires some manual attention and I've too much else I'd rather work on at the moment. I've mentioned outsourcing in journals before and I've never really had much success but I'm giving it another go now. The hope is to be able to setup affiliate funnels and KGR terms for different niches and get them to handle the content.

I've got a couple of freelancers working on this now. Trialed a dozen, gave 4-5 of them work and most of them immediately fell off the face of the Earth. Considering the quarantine I'd hazard a guess and say there are more people around freelancing at the moment but it's still a pain in the ass.

On the bright side - it's a pain in the ass with potential. It didn't take many posts for the first niche to get a daily stream of decent traffic. Considering the CPC in the niche is around $4-5 at the moment it's hard to turn that down.

I've prepped a pretty big stack of keywords in a couple of different affiliate niches. I'm starting to warm up a few accounts and things will pick up a bit more once I find freelancers who actually show up. The plan is to let them handle this side of things for the content generation and I'll build out the funnels to track and convert the traffic.

Glad to see your still keeping up with this! I'm about to jump back in with an aged domain that'll auto post to social and web 2.o sites. I've found "0" allintitles is the way to go. Much trickery to find with software, scraping "people also asked" is the best place to get them.

I'm just getting things set up and will start posting next week. I'll drop in from time to time to let you know if I spot anything else working.

Some of the freelancers came back with pretty good work. I think it'll be a while before I show them how to run the entire system from start to finish so I'm still a bottleneck at the moment but I've got two dozen posts up today with more to come.

Over the weekend one of my offers had 48 hits to the sales page from this over the weekend. Not a ton - but I've run AdWords in this niche and that's about $250 of traffic. Plus the KGR content builds more authority than a couple of characters in a PPC description. I was really wanting to get more into PPC this month but I'm really considering just throwing all of that into outsourcing for this instead. ROI could be a lot healthier and scaling paid traffic just seems like more of a headache with VAT. Investing in free traffic just makes more sense.

This is probably the quickest variation of SEO I've ever worked with but it's still SEO and... I'm not the most patient person in the world. Some posts get traffic pretty quickly but the bulk of it is going to take a couple of weeks at least. There's a couple of other projects still taking some of my time each day but I'm aiming to get this to at least 100 new posts a week. Hopefully, more if I can remove myself as the bottleneck as much as possible.

For some niches, I've found over 100 phrases meeting the KGR rules. Others have maybe a dozen or two at best. This should keep me busy enough for now but I'm going to start looking at expanding the rules a bit when I get a moment. I don't know how much testing he ever did in the KGR numbers but 0.25 seems to work fine - I might as well try higher.

Can You tell which web2.0s you are using for the KGR keywords?

I have been to your site but can't buy any of the Keyword packs

I'm testing a couple of different ones but I'm not giving out the list. There's a good thread somewhere here about finding working parasites I'd take a look at that.

For what they charge, Selly seems to have a mess of issues. Did it give you a specific error message?

I wasn't sure if I was going to as I've been caught up on so many other projects lately. The sales are starting to get pretty consistent from the first batch though so I'm starting to commit to it more.

I tend to assume keyword tools will include anything showing up in 'people also asked' and limiting to 0 allintitle would limit the traffic too much for my liking. If you're automatically generating enough content though it'll still work out a good ROI on your time in the long run. I haven't paid much attention to the allintitle count other than making sure it fits the original KGR rules. A good 80% of my biggest test batch are sitting in the top 3 now so I don't think I'll limit it. If anything I want to test pushing it a bit higher.

With the quarantine opening up more in some areas some of the freelancer's TAT has increased but that's to be expected. I also lost a bit of my own productivity last week to a minor injury but, to make up for this, I've had a very productive weekend and cleared off projects that have been holding me back from focusing on this more.

It's not the easiest to focus on SEO projects. Patience has never been one of my strong suits. Right after I posted the update for this last week one of the newer posts brought in a $37 sale through a funnel I'd only just put together a day or two beforehand. That's obviously absurdly fast for SEO but the majority of the traffic is going to take a few weeks to kick in. Given the value of the traffic I'm getting already though, it could be a good result in a few weeks if I'm able to actually focus on scaling.

The goal this week:
  • Finish up this automation as much as I'm able to. The less of a bottleneck I am, the better. The more I can trust a freelancer to handle things the more likely this is actually going to get done.
  • Line up more niches. Partly for diversity and partly so I have enough KGR phrases to keep the freelancers busy for the week.
  • Go through the current freelancers and see who's worth keeping on.
I have some longer-term scaling in mind as well but I'd like to get a lot more content posted over the next couple of weeks. Ideally I'd like to get a few hundred keywords up and tracking before experimenting with anything different.

Going by the data for the last 28 days from one test batch:

30 posts live.
455 hops to the offer page (several thousand views on the posts themselves but I'd have to work to get the full stats and it doesn't matter enough).
Mostly US/UK/CA traffic which is what I want in this niche.

The cheaper side of traffic in this niche is around $0.75 and even then you'd probably not get 455 clicks at that price. My EPC in this niche is actually around $1.20 but let's assume $0.75 that's $341 in free traffic from 30 posts. If I pay $10 a post at that rate the first month of traffic already covers the outsourcing.

I find it very hard to commit to one single project. Especially when it's SEO lately I just wanted to build a bunch of quick affiliate funnels together and fire PPC ads at them but that seems like an insane idea compared to just throwing a couple of thousand into outsourcing this properly. Sure, it'll take a while for the traffic to fully kick off but if nothing changes the ROI is just so much higher than PPC. The automation is... about as good as I'm going to get it for the moment. I'm going to keep myself as a bottleneck for the foreseeable future and semi-manually post things but if it goes well I can hire someone to take that side of things on.

I've got one decent writer on board but their throughput is less than I need so I've left a few messages with other ones and I'm testing two new parasites out as well.

So you are doing parasites with clickbank?
And posting KGR content.
Pretty interesting.

Hi OP
can i ask you smth ?
what's the difference between kgr and long tail keyword with low comp
thank you and good luck

I'm starting up a new project this coming month focusing on building a whole bunch of funnels in different niches. Part of that traffic plan involves KGR terms so it'll be a good chance to get more data but there won't be a whole lot else to say for a while. Going to post a bunch of content and wait around to see what happens. So far the results have been better than expected, hopefully that continues.

It doesn't really matter who's processing the payment. It could be a CPA offer, a Shopify store, a ClickBank link or whatever else. Bring interested traffic to an interesting offer.

It's just semantics. KGR is a term a marketer came up with for his filtering of low competition longtails. I haven't got nearly enough numbers to say whether or not his actual filtering is some magic formula but eventually, I'll be trying higher volume keywords to see how it compares.

Sitting on an all-time high for traffic and sales in the last week. If I’d paid for the content for one of the first test sets that’s $300 worth of content which has pulled in almost $2k profit in the last 30 days. Probably going to be an atypical result but I can’t knock that ROI.

Some of the newer niches I’ve started are starting to pick up traffic from these posts now as well. I've two new niches I'm excited about because they have very low competition and I've got a couple of page 1 rankings on the first day. Not a lot of people in this niche because it's hard to monetize but I've worked in it before so I'll be putting some work behind those two. I'm also testing two higher competition niches, both of which I've previously made affiliate sales with but I'm curious to compare traffic numbers. One of the competitive ones is in the health niche which is certainly ranking slower than the others but I'm curious to see how it compares.

Currently, I have four writers working between different niches. I’ve mostly switched to this way of doing content at the moment because it’s got a better chance of surviving compared to automated junk content. If the results are even a fraction of the tests so far it’ll be a profitable trade but it is slower. I'm keeping a backup of all the content getting posted so if the parasites do take an issue with it I can repost the good content on my own domains and go back to automated posts elsewhere.

This week I have quite a lot I'd like to get done. I need to clear through the backlog of stuff needing edited from writers who I'm not keeping around and there are two new niches I'd like to get into.

I've a couple of projects going on at the moment and Monday is always the busiest day so I'm not sure how much I'll get done. I'm trying to make more time for this but it'll be easier once I find more writers who require less editing so I can focus on properly scaling and not editing content for hours.

I've had a busy couple of days on other bits of work but every morning when I check in on the analytics I can see these numbers growing so I'm keen to do it properly.

I have two writers who don't need a lot of editing for which means I'm not really a bottleneck anymore. I can prepare a week's worth of their content in 30 minutes just making sure the formatting and everything is alright and making sure it's backed up properly. The two biggest bottlenecks I'm hitting just now:
  1. TAT of the writers. I want to be investing in a lot more content than I am just now but I'm not getting the throughput high enough. Dealing with this by trying to get at least 2 more just now. One has done a couple of pieces for me in the last week so that should go well.
  2. Finding niches. This has partly been a tech issue and I've had a few things to fix to keep up with the demand I'm needing at the moment but I think I'm maybe being too strict on the requirements. I'm basing everything on getting similar stats to the first niche but the reality is I could go much lower than that and still get a good return. So I'm going to loosen these numbers up and try to make sure I have enough niches to keep churning out the content.

Are you posting all your articles on web 2.0s?

Some content goes to my own domain and some to 2.0's it depends if I'm already in that niche or not and whether I see myself getting the time to really build up a site for it. There are some niches I'll be trying with cheaper content on 2.0's and, if they work out, I'll be making more of an effort with better content on my own domain a little down the road.

I've been in and out of SEO for long enough you'd think I'd of learned patience just by accident at least but it's never been my strong suit.

The second niche I started to scale into hit an all-time high for traffic yesterday almost double what it was a week ago. The sales it's brought in have probably already covered the outsourcing I put into it and there's a backlog of articles still to be posted. I start to get excited about a project when it's scalable so it's nice to see it working so quickly in another niche.

The big bottleneck at the moment is the TAT of the writers. I had four good ones but one got themselves banned from UpWork. The other three require very little editing so I can leave them to it but their TAT is 7 days, sometimes longer. I don't mind waiting for decent quality but I'm not getting the throughput I want so I think I'll try a few different job boards this week as well as contact a few more on UpWork and see what happens.

I've been working on two different things.
  • Future-proofing: For the niches which are performing well I'm getting some longer-form content for my own domain. Not focusing on any link building or anything but I have a few #1 and snippet slots and it's been bringing in sales. I pay the writers more for this kind of content so it'll take a bit longer to be ROI+ but it gives me another spot on the SERPS and a little less bother if the parasites pull my content.
  • Scaling into new niches. I have a couple of filters I'm currently looking for and one or two of them might be a bit strict. Ideally, I'd be able to tick all the boxes but in reality, I can be profitable with lower numbers and I could have a lot more content being produced if I doubled the niches I was in.
As long as nothing major comes up this week I'm hoping to make a bunch of time for this project. Try and get a couple of new writers on board and get a couple of new niches prepared.
