From my point of view, you should create a new one and link it with the Monetized channel or it will be better and safer if you have an old Google Adsense account that has paid and link it with the Monetized Channel.
About the Google Adsense has been linked with the channel, it's safe but you need to change you own Google Adsense to receive the money monthly.
