How long will the lockdown go on?

I don't have high hopes, i expect it to end near the end of the year.

It highly depends on how things are developing. At the moment Italy, Germany, Spain and the US got hit quite hard. Personally I don't think it will end any time soon. Might be extended until end of May.

The only thing in question is if people are going to accept it. The public opinion is important. At the moment the people accept the orders, but many of them already struggle with a 14 days quarantine. It might end up in a chaos.

At the end of the day, the vaccine or the "herd immunity" is the only way out.
Virus is a living organism, smart and adaptable, and it is foolish to believe it can ever be erased from Earth completely.

Sooner or later the leaders will understand this fact, and the restrictions will be lifted, step by step, while more lung ventilators are produced and installed all around the world.
But it will be a gradual thing, and that's why it will likely take quite a long time... Hopefully not long enough to make many economies collapse...

The only issue with herd immunity is there is no real evidence I don't think that once you have it, you can't get it again and or immune to it. So until some testing is done the only real way out is vaccines.

Either way when ever we come out we are going to hit a massive depression. The only thing that might turn the tide on that is people who stay at home might spend less money so when all of this "lockdown" ends I see a boom in:

- Construction
- DIY Materials / Services
- House Sales
- Divorces

That's where money will be spent hard and it might be enough to stop a major depression. People are stuck at home looking at what they got and decide they need more room, new furniture, new paint, extend the garden, install a deck etc or even hate their partner!

So that's my opinion on what's going to boom hard once this is over not to mention I think leisure will see a massive spike but I don't think it will as long sustained, as people will have gotten used to saving money. There's going to be a fair amount of people who realise how much money is left over after a week or a month when they don't buy coffee every day!

Of course then there is the other worry about job losses. IF everyone is working from home there is going to be a large % of business that will start to realise they don't need you for that job, that task is not worth your time so bye bye.

This will happen a lot - THE same way as smaller % of companies will see a boom in productivity and will stay remote working with it's staff and can save over heads by ditching the building lease, insurances and all other costs that come with having a office.

Interesting & harder times ahead.

morons who have covid don’t go to hosp
People don't just stop getting sick with normal illnesses because of corona, and I agree that some people are going there when they should stay at home, but I don't think someone who's just broken their leg is a moron for going to a hospital without having corona.

Increase in house sales?

I see increase in loan offers and it's not like you have to promote them the blackhat way you can do it goign whitehat

Lockdown can go on for a month.

Increase in house sales?
It's possible, but the prices will go down. If there's an increase in house sales, that's because people need to sell, because they ran out of money and they need to sell it for whatever price the buyer pays, which means more house on the market. Bigger selection, lower prices. Tables are turned.
I personally don't think that there will be a boom in construction either. If there will be, it will be on the countryside, less populated areas and not in big cities. Many people after this is over, don't want to live in a big city anymore, that's guaranteed.

There's already a well recognizeable trend here in rental prices going down in cities.

Most people don't pay for a house in full, but they need loan from banks. Banks won't give loans as easily as before and they will give less than before. There's already a trend, which shows that banks started to discriminate the workers of certain sectors e.g tourism, automobile industry, catering. Even if you still have your job in those sectors (many people don't anymore), it will be a disadvantage, when applying for loans. So this is another reason, why the real estate business won't be booming anytime soon.

Spain they are talking about extending it when it ends on the 12th April for a further 2 weeks at least.

Somewhere in summer they will loosen it up and expect to be locked down next autumn and winter until spring or next summer again.

It is actually not that difficult to tell when this will be over.
- You know how many beds you have in hospitals of your country.
- You know how many are taken on average and how many you could possibly stock up.
- Now calculate the amount of cases where people spend 2 weeks in hospital because of corona
- Then you will know long your health system needs to process all the ill people until it reaches 70% of the residents.

= You have a number which will tell you how long it will take when running the health system at full capacities.

"It is actually not that difficult to tell when this will be over."

Shut the fuck up for god's sake, who the fuck are you to make any type of calculation and mislead people like that, pathetic fuck.

Yeah man people will get fed up of where they live and want to move. See other peoples houses when remote working, decide their house is shit and want something better.

And where will they bring money from?

It ia not houses but jobs is what they are going to be looking for but we might see a lot of people opting for entrepreneurship

People are going to work on getting their shit together instead of buying houses which is what I see

I don't see people selling their houses no way!

Until a cure is found.

For sure, but it's often not up to the individual. There will be situations, where people no matter what they do, they won't be able to make ends meet, so they need to sell something and that's if they have something to sell at all. Hell, for many people it's hard enough to make ends meet with a stabile income. Or think about the houses with mortgage on them, some people won't be able to pay the mortgage, even if those are paused at the moment, that won't be/can't be the case for long. Those houses will be up for sale.

When big sectors of the economy almost cease to exist like tourism, you can't magically employ all those people in other sectors, all the more so, because many other sectors are having a hard time too.

But i wasn't thinking people sell the house they live in primarily, but some other property, which might already be on sale or was before the virus existed. They will need to sell it at a depressed price.

There will be more houses on the market than before, that's no question. It will be harder to sell, because many buyers are in a waiting position and banks won't give loans as easily as before (less to fewer people). Hence the real estate market is going down the shitter with other sectors.

It will be a complicated situation. The solution need to come from the government level, you as an individual can do your best, if there are no jobs to fill.

Well 100% will stop when antiviral or vaccine is found, and safety is tested.
I don't think hospital capacity will have big impact. Let say say everyone stay at home(impossible cause necessary busine, and factory still and will keep running), than Corona patient at hospital, go down let say they have 50% capacity. they lift the ban. Than boom ptient rise again. Why? Cause as long there is someone That not tested, there is possibility to be a carrier. And 1 carrier is enough to infect a lot of people in short time.

BTW it's impossible to test every single person in the country. Even on dictatorship country. Some off the map village in the border, can still be a carrier than go to town and infect a lot of people.
