For sure, but it's often not up to the individual. There will be situations, where people no matter what they do, they won't be able to make ends meet, so they need to sell something and that's if they have something to sell at all. Hell, for many people it's hard enough to make ends meet with a stabile income. Or think about the houses with mortgage on them, some people won't be able to pay the mortgage, even if those are paused at the moment, that won't be/can't be the case for long. Those houses will be up for sale.
When big sectors of the economy almost cease to exist like tourism, you can't magically employ all those people in other sectors, all the more so, because many other sectors are having a hard time too.
But i wasn't thinking people sell the house they live in primarily, but some other property, which might already be on sale or was before the virus existed. They will need to sell it at a depressed price.
There will be more houses on the market than before, that's no question. It will be harder to sell, because many buyers are in a waiting position and banks won't give loans as easily as before (less to fewer people). Hence the real estate market is going down the shitter with other sectors.
It will be a complicated situation. The solution need to come from the government level, you as an individual can do your best, if there are no jobs to fill.
