@red- I just claimed a C4C at AC and it has a bunch of keyphrases in the assignment details. My question is do i have to incoporate all of them or just one? And should I consider the first one to be the most important one?

@ tansim - What I'm trying to understand is, did your titles have every letter of the titles in caps, or did you just cap the first letters in the titles? The way they want is to have all words with more than 3 letters to be capitalized in the title, and then the subtitle should only have the first word capitalized.

And yes, it's normal for them to send them back for editing instead of taking the time themselves to fix it. Sometimes they will edit a few things themsleves, but it's up to each reviewer's discretion.

@ adi.harry1980 - Absolutely, like I posted above, there's no reason to submit 1500 word articles to AC. They want them short and concise. Read the thread mate, you're going to save yourself a lot of time and heartache in the long run.

@ Viscious - Awesome, thanks for posting up with the C4C suggestion. Thats what I love to see is people posting up with assignments to grab etc. Congrats on getting it accepted and throwing some more $$$ in your pocket.

@ tchashow - Those are just your suggested keywords. You can pick any of them you want because there's no order of one being more important than another.

lol i submitted a requested article (one of the ones on the front page not a C4C) thinking that they only wanted one copy of that article and that no one else could have that assignment once it was taken by me... lol yeah no. Next day there's almost a dozen on the EXACT same topic. Surprised its doing as well as it is actually.

They have a certain amount of submissions they want for each one. It's a different amount each time too. Glad to hear it's doing well for ya.

Its going ok.... I actually stopped doing upfronts for a while and just concentrated on clout. I'm hoping to get closer to that $5 per upfront here before too long (should be at clout five in a few weeks...i dont submit very much)

Im actually submitting mostly stuff that doesnt qualify for upfronts and thats where im getting most of my traffic. lol i have one article that didnt qualify for upfronts...but yet it has more page views than all of my other ones combined.

All Im really going to use AC for is performance pay (eventually) and selling rewrites of articles ive already done....ive figured out that doing AC right is a lot of work (as you already know ) and imo is only worth it if you're outsourcing.

Thanks red. Sorry but I have another question. I know you said that at least 2 sources should be used in our articles but C4C doesn't list in the assignment details that sources are required. So my question is should I use them? Theres no way for me to get more money than what they are offering so I don't have to do extra stuff for them to pay me, right?

And to answer your question to red, I'm pretty sure that red must have seen some difference in pay because he says countless times in this thread to use 2 sources with your articles. But I have noticed on AC that some of the top writers don't use any sources but AC says that you should use them. I don't know. But I would rather use them because red recommends it.

@red- I know that you also said that 3-4 links should be used in your articles but I was wondering if you meant to also include them in C4C because I dont really see the need to if I'm not going to get an increase in payment. But I don't want them to decline my article because I didn't use sources.

So should I?

@ livinitup0 and tchashow - The main reason it's important to cite your sources is to safeguard yourself from rejections. Because AC wants them, it's a lot quicker to add a few sources than to submit the articles only to find they got rejected and you then have to add them anyway. AC will accept articles at times without sources, but if you do it too often they will tend to start rejecting everything with "cite your sources" as an excuse.

Better to get used to doing it right the first time to save yourself unecessery delays in payment, and of course you want to do all you can to keep your rejected article ratio as low as possible. (This is part of what determines all of your upfront offers is your rejection ratio.) Like I talk about a lot in the book, anything you can do to "give AC just what they are wanting" is going to add to your upfronts and save you time dealing with rejections.

On the C4C's, if they aren't asking for sources and you aren't "quoting" something or someone within your content that will need to be backed up by you citing the sources, then you won't need to bother.

As far as adding links to C4C's, the same reasons I explained earlier as to why it's better to add hyperlinks applies. You don't have to add them as far as AC is concerned, but if you have other content that is related to the topic of the C4C, it's a great idea to link it because the C4C's are usually great for bringing in page views. If it's linked to some of your other articles, it kind of goes without saying that it's going to be driving extra traffic to those linked articles.

Exactly, you never want to use all caps in a title. Here's an example of how a title should look..

"Toshiba Satellite XM-SQ Review: Lightning Fast Laptop at an Affordable Price"

As far as the other articles, there's no way to tell why they may have been rejected unless I consult with you and study them over.

It's me again. I'm not able to get on here much, so excuse me for the late response. Thanks to everyone for all the friendly welcomes!

Just adding my .02 about performance views only vs. upfront payments. As others have mentioned, I have some of the same experiences. Very specific, out in left field articles almost always result in higher upfront offers. Then these articles collect very, very few views.

However, articles that I have been offered paltry sums in upfronts often keep paying me handsomely month after month. I have even published for views only after being rejected for upfront payments because I thought the pvs would be decent. Usually the results were worth it.

Anyway, that's my contribution of my AC knowledge. May everyone get huge upfront offers and awesome pageviews!

Thanks Angela, hope you do as well! It's just odd that they can seemingly never get it right as to what's going to perform the best for views. Lol it doesn't make sense to my AC source either!

@ livinitup - It just depends on what approach you want to take, both can be great. The quick money for the upfronts makes more sense if you're running multiple accounts. If your trying to build longterm residuals for a W9 account, then being patient and going for performance only is a great option.

As far as your last question...are you talking about the partner calls?

I do a lot of Display Only and PAYING C4C. I never take any of the performance-only assignments from the desk--huge waste of time, but I think they put that there for the newbies and the clueless, lol.

You have to check the assignment desk several times a day to get the paying assignments. I was lucky enough to grab a few $4 assignments the other day. Paid C4C always go very quickly, so if you see something you want to write, don't delay in claiming it. I don't take anything less than $3. Sometimes I'll take the $2.50 assignments if I think I can churn it out in less than 10 minutes.

I also avoid the paid assignments where they want a list of 10 items or ideas. I've done those before and my god, they take forever to research and write, even if it's a stupid gift guide type assignment. 5 times, fine. 10? NO THANK YOU.

I'm a clout 10 and I've never gotten a partner call or a targeted call. I wish I knew how to get these

I have a theoretical question I would like to ask. Say a content producer drops about 50 articles in one day. What could you expect to happen? It would have some sort of negative impact I would imagine. Just curious because it seems like I have not been dropping articles in the right manner. I have been dropping articles in the fashion of 10, then 8 the next day, after that 1, next day is 5. But now I have received a message on some articles saying:

AC typically offers (higher) upfront payment for content that is particularly compelling and informative. You might consider taking more time to create a few fairly in-depth more insightful pieces that will earn higher upfront payments, rather than submitting several shallow ones for which we can offer little or no upfront payment.

But the thing is that some of these articles are similar to ones I have wrote in the past so I figure it is because I released some articles every day.

(To answer the question some people might have of why I am releasing so many per day it is because I am trying to reach about another $250 by Dec 15)
