For some unknown reason, because I have not shared anything, either questionable or legitimate, my acct. was downgraded back to Newbie. All I have been doing, when I download something worthwhile is, giving thanks and posting a comment stating the same.

How would I find out the reason for the downgrade? Thanks.

You should start posting and helping members here ( don't spam)

Your posts were probably deleted, as we have a "Thanks" button for saying thanks. Short and spammy-looking posts are usually reported and deleted.

I too got posts deleted for it, and reason was simple if you wish to thanks simply use the thank button as far as the downgrade is concerned not aware if mods downgrade accounts

Your posts were most likely deleted if you were posting an excessive number of "thanks for the share" posts. Members are expected to use the thanks button in lieu of posting "thank you". This rule is in place to prevent post count inflation.

You should have received an alert explaining the issue if large number of posts were deleted, so be sure to check those.

3.5 engaging in post count inflation by posting excessive amounts of short replies for the sole purpose of inflating your post count. This includes the infamous “thanks for the share.” . (If you’d like to say “thanks” to someone for their effort/contribution, make use of the Thanks button).
