One main coronavirus thread

I swear I used to unwatch the "Lounge Forum " because of those "Corona" threads!

Forums are meant for communication. This is actually my best source of communication with people regarding corona because I'm holed up in a hotel room on my own for weeks. It's a marketing forum, sure, but these posts are being put into the lounge. One big thread will be impossible manage and impossible to delineate any kind of valuable conversation from. At worst this is an annoyance for some people maybe, but multiple threads on corona is not adversely affecting the performance of the forum. If anything these threads seem to get a lot of engagement, and are providing members with much needed ability to voice concerns and sometimes also to find some kind of light-heartedness in amongst a lot of concern and uncertainty. I respect OP's point of view though, this is primarily a marketing forum. Maybe another solution can be found, but I think that one single thread on a global pandemic sweeping throughout the world and crashing financial markets is not a logic expectation.

not sorry. I dont mean it to sound that mean but there are multiple places of knowledge on the aspect. I think a coronavirus subforum would be good as that is what we have done in the past when we see a trend of theads e.g the TikTok sforum

Hmmm.. doesn't seem like anyone's stopping you, but instead you're wasting energy focusing on others expressing their free will to discuss things they find interesting. Maybe just get on with you work if you don't want to talk about corona? win-win

This is not a good idea though OP. Tiktok isn't going to disappear from relevance in a few weeks/months, Corona will. The BHW admin will be stuck with a sub-forum that will get no more activity, and they will have to delete it.. so a big waste of time and content, or just have a weird, dormant sub-forum to keep as a testament to this period of time.. kind of like if there was a Princess Diana death sub-forum, or 9/11 sub-forum.

Only options:

The Authoritarian Route

Create a single thread and pin it to the top of the BHW lounge called "This is the only Corona thread mfs!". Then filter out the words relating to Corona from the process of creating new threads.. can't include "corona" for example in titles. Also freeze all existing threads and close them all. Anyone that tries to circumvent this new measure is either shot or fined $50,000.

The What We're Doing Now Route

People can create threads about corona freely, and they're fairly common considering that right now literally every country in the world and every member of the forum is being affected by it, but at some point, perhaps after some annoyance to some members, it will subside and these posts will just drift into the archives of BHW quietly over the months as the world moves on.

The Kind of Midway-ish Route

People can just be asked to try not to posts lots of corona threads.. but there are two major risks here:

1. The vocal minority that are annoyed by corona threads negatively impact the majority that don't mind them.
2. From a libertarian and "there is beauty in the free and natural flow of information" sense, organic and potentially beneficial conversations that would have occurred here, boosting the value of the community to its members, as well as potentially creating new content that may draw in new members that are interested in the topics being discussed, may be unnecessarily curtailed.. leading to a net negative result.

The Slightly Psychotic-but-Fun Route

A new rule is implemented where every time someone uses the words "corona", "virus", "corona virus", or "covid-19", they have to change the word/phrase to the word "internet marketing". That way conversations will satisfy those who want to discuss corona, but also will not annoy those who are starting to hate seeing these word and instead want to get back to seeing more "normal" threads.

You can't fight trend. There are lots of ways to monetized Corona from Internet Marketing's perspective.
