Tory government is doing fuck all in the UK. My local supermarkets have no toilet paper, hand soap or pasta.
Not sure if the people panic buying are idiots or smart ones at this point. I'm starting to get the fear and wanting to stockpile myself.
Look at this from this way.
IF you have to stay at home during the peak of it - because you're ill.
Do you have friends who could go to the shop for you or local family members who would be willing under the age of 60 + fit / health? IF the answer is NO then I would at least hold 2 weeks of food you can feed your self. It's OK keeping pasta and rice in BUT remember when you feel like shit you need to cook that so go for the not so obvious things cup of soups, hot chocolate etc anything thats warm can be drank and made in 2min is a win.
Don't think I can get a home delivery because:
- Most will think the same
- Drivers can be ill resulting in long delivery time slots
- You could be ill and miss the delivery i.e too weak to get to the door or be sleeping when it arrives.
- Look at Social Media at Christmas how fucked up shops get home delivery at Christmas peak let alone a pandemic do you want to risk that?
The Government is telling you not to worry and there is plenty of food so if you ask me, you should be stock piling a little.
Putting your family first or your own health is not selfish (I don't think) anyone who is worried about not being able to get paracatemol etc because they need it for health reasons should already have had a supply if you ask me for a "what if".
I personally don't think you need to worry about water stocking - no one from any "locked down" zone has said the water is off and I can't see the power going down either.
So be smart aim for 14-20 days of food with 40% of that easy cook / boil foods you can do when ill and the rest are things you need effort to cook. If you want to prepare or stock past that then that's your call.
PLUS IF you are from the UK look at how fucking nuts people go at Christmas & "Snow" shopping will only get worse I done my last weekly shop till this all blows over yesterday and it took me an hour to check out at 11am!!!
