Everything is getting cancelled or closed. It must be worse than they are telling us. There must be way worse news from China that they are not telling us. Either that or it is a group think over reaction.

More precaution that necessary in my opinion.

Reminds me back when there was an oil crisis in the late 70's/early 80's and if there was a minor spill at a refinery they had teams being over paid to clean it up so it did not look like there was oil being wasted.

A little over reaction is not always a bad thing.

If every country dont shut down, this think will spread more fast than we can handle(well already happen) if kill your health system, ger on top to it will take for ever,

I'm hypothesizing that more people quarantined means increased internet traffic. Might become the Golden Age of blogging? People will need something to read / do.
Even better for gaming, I don't have to wait anymore in queues in matchmaking systems, cos everyone is in home now so it instantly finds ppl to play with.

The USA and UK are not doing enough.
In a few weeks you will see why these precautions are being taken...

It’s not way worse. Have you not seen what is happening right now in Italy?

True Italy has a much higher death rate than China. Which makes me think it has been vastly under reported in China. I just don't trust the numbers coming out of China.

It's better to overdress for an interview than underdress.

The average age of Italys population is one of the highest in the world so not surprising a virus that is more deadly to the elderly should have a higher impact of deaths. I do agree though and question the numbers on China....

Work from home is the trend, it will come sooner or later we all know that, just, now coronavirus made it coming 5 years early.

You will see after this, the WFH economy will booming... many things will change more quickly, more people consider more gig works, more versatile options...people now have stronger precaution insights.

There's a good reason why shutting things down is a good thing. Reducing contact has a significant impact on infection rates.

Singapore & Hong Kong have proven that affirmative action with wide-reaching participation by the public does have a positive rate on infection rates. It's better to take this action early than later, but doing it in the first place is the most important step:

That virus can't be controlled withing the next 1-x years, that's basically the time it will take to develop a vaccination against COVID-19 virus. So don't compare it to anything we had before as its new - and we have no protection against it and not a single country worldwide can handle the number of sick people in that short time
So in that situation, no one of us is safe. What happens at the stock markets is just a small foreshock before the real earthquake. No matter where you are from the world is on war mode, and idiots like trump will make things worse - maybe now you think "what an idiot" but let's give it another 1-3 weeks spreading.

P.S: Using china as a source makes any post "skippable" - Chinese communist propaganda is really a thing you should not believe in at all especially not bein a decade away from a revolution over there.

Numbers are true, but you don't see here that Italy has another lifestyle. Even today, elder people, like 85+ go out and drink their coffe at a nearby cafe and talk with each other about coronavirus, instead of staying at home. I think they don't know how to make their own coffee or they want someone to do it for them. This is so fucked up.

I might finally be able to queue dps :o

All I could think of is how the pharmacies in my country took advantage and spiked all the prices of so called "important" vitamin mixes and face masks (even the cheapest ones that look like toilet paper with elastic bands); I'm covered I had the "prepper" craze a few years back and own enough along with other essentials but these guys, prior to the gov's involvement in limiting the rates and shutting down shops the prices were as high as 50d for 5 face masks ($162).

Unfortunately for us, there is a certain religious sect that believes this to be a blessing and demands the gifts to spread across the country, no wonder they shut down most of the gov institutes and schools. Its a good time to be a delivery company.
