I think YoY traffic within e-commerce is risky... MORE so if you compare a specific time frame like you have in the screenshot (besides the fact traffic is lower) IF your client is selling a seasonal product for valentines day id have fired you. I think for a small date segment there are other factors than can cause a dip or things outside of the shops control (environment, money, people, suppliers) YoY is better for a larger time frame - IF there are dips you need to provide answers as to why or what was different then compared to now.

IF you need to provide results in a shorter time frame (to show worth) id start to look at comparison pages and indirect niche topics to build up some traffic & brand exposure while working towards the longer term goal (of whatever that maybe set)

I wish someone had given me a kick in the ass 10 years ago when I was parading around writing articles on Warrior Forum and other IM places that I knew nothing about, pretending I knew what I was doing because being a Guru was the ultimate title to strive for.

I see it happening here all the time. But the landscape has changed now and it's harder than ever to win at this game.

The last thing I want to see is new people reading these kind of threads written as authoritative guides when the author has no idea what they're doing and sending people up the garden path.

But hey, I'm still learning too, and this is not my forum.
It's surely better than the WF crap you have been through sorry but you won't get ground breaking shares on this forum like that WF gooroo shit lol

That is the point. Because traffic is down 2020 vs 2019, the guy produced a quick win. After first traffic spike, they're almost back to last year levels. This is big in very competitive situations with a long history of SEO.

Yeah but what's the revenue and average order spend compared? Or is it just traffic for traffic sake? I don't think id mess around trying to boost establish pages as its only short term gains id be taking a new approach like I outlined, that's just me though.

Are you Steven Kang?

One of the best ways to demonstrate the real value of SEO to enterprise-level clients is showing YoY traffic gap cause and effect relationship during the evaluation period.

As you already know, SEO takes usually 3 to 4 months for most campaigns, but for this case, I have promised my client that quick wins usually take between 4 to 6 weeks using the power pages method.

For more savvy clients, it's not just about rankings. They watch the YoY data like a hawk.

What ya guys think?
