301s, 2.0s or something else?

Always be building PBN sites, 301 is really a waste of time thesedays. In the local business category, there are loads of candidates for this (companies go bust everyday - especially restaurants/hotels/pubs).

I actually did really well buying up old pub (bar/tavern for those outside the UK) websites. Many old pubs have died in the UK and nobody ever grabs their old websites. It's a very valid PBN creation strategy if you're in the local hotel/bar/pub world. Some of these websites can be really powerful too if they have won awards or gotten a mention in the local/regional press. Some of them get a mention on local government business websites too - plus a coveted Observer/Guardian/Times link if located in London and got a review.

Do the expired domains have valuable backlinks? - can you look at the backlinks and think to yourself "these would benefit my client's website"? If yes, then just 301 redirect the website. If they don't provide much of an advantage in terms of additional backlinks, I definitely don't see anything wrong with the 2nd option and creating a type of PBN for your client if you have the time and know-how.

Thank you. On of the domains have a valuable link profile and ******** backlinks from DA60 sites but the main problem is that my client is against such approach and there is no way I can do 301 to his website. I am slowly but surely going in the direction of building a local PBN by redirecting the two domains into one new.

Hey Rebecca thanks for your answer,

the domains I bought aren't so powerful but have some decent ******** backlinks from authority sites and I think I can use. Plus it would've been a shame if I hadn't given 9$ for these two. I will most probably do 301s to a new local domain and try to build a PBN.

1. 301s ....its a bit of a waste of good niche domains ...a review site of chinese restaurants in your clients town with a do follow link and top place would be much more useful for your client on every level ..views, longevity, relevance, reputation etc

2. PBN.....food blogs are all the rage and is a super PBN topic ....

3. if you do 1 and 2 you are creating a permament resource you control and you can use for other projects not to mention for marketing. Its more work but they build up over time

4. IF I was a restaurant and a SEO turned up and said I do 1. and 2. for my clients I would hire him or her on the spot

Thats a very useful idea........in fact for local SEO generally there will normally always be decent expired domains for dentists, restaurants or whatever IN YOR TOWN for free!. My ony issue is that many links may be review type that get scrubbed after a year or so.....but its still a great local SEO tip as well.
