There are many compelling reasons to conclude that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is not nearly as deadly as is currently feared. But COVID-19 panic has set in nonetheless. You can’t find hand sanitizer in stores, and N95 face masks are being sold online for exorbitant prices, never mind that neither is the best way to protect against the virus (yes, just wash your hands). The public is behaving as if this epidemic is the next Spanish flu, which is frankly understandable given that initial reports have staked COVID-19 mortality at about 2–3 percent, quite similar to the 1918 pandemic that killed tens of millions of people.

There are currently 95,000 infected people of which 3,300 have died, its more or less a 3.5%. Here the problem is how easy this virus can be spread, if it could reach all the people in the world (and right now there is nothing to stop it) 7,768,738,123 people infected and kill 3.5% would kill 271,905,834 people.

Plus this virus kills people who has their body defense very low, I dont want to know what will happen when the virus expands in africa or other poor countries

Absolutely immune is the key here

I think the virus is more problematic to people who have low immunity. Or smalls kids and Old age people.

In it's present form, the speed at which the virus is infecting people and the economic effects are the main worries. However, if it mutates into a deadlier form, it could be a nightmarish senario!

In any case, we should protect ourselves and our families, wash our hands frequently and try not to go to densely populated areas

People have better immune system in the poor countries because of the conditions they live in. Please start introducing more bacteria to your life. Don't be afraid of eating stale (not rotten) food. Let your body fight these bacteria to build a stronger imku system.

It's not bacteria, it's virus and I don't think that a malnourished children and without medication or anyone in that conditions can survive to a strong virus

What kind of suggestion is this Niraj?

At current state might be . But what is frightening here , the speed of spread and the longevity (it can live for 30-45 days outside the body) . And if it was man - made , imagine what if they invent a new virus which has 90% death rate ? This means they can kill world 90% population in a matter of some months ..

The problem is not that's "not deadly" as it's hyped.
The main problem is that it spreads 20 times faster than the common flu. 15% of people that are infected by this need a spot in intensive care. If it spreads to the whole world, don't take that 3% will die, assume a much higher % as people would die because they won't have access to health care as every hospital is full.
Consider that you gotta stay 3 weeks in hospital after you get it, do you think we have infinite beds for an epidemic to happen?
Here they closed all school/universities until 15th March

Where did they close the universities?

It is actually deadly for you if you above 50, or 70.
In exceptional cases above 30.
But the way it spreads is dangerous, and there is no clue that after treatment will it reoccur or not.

Actually there are many that say it can live outside body for 9 days, 30-45 days or some doc says upto 90 days.
But no one knows with what they are dealing with, even WHO surrendered.

I don't think the big fear is necessarily how likely it is to kill people or who it can kill, but simply how quick and easy it can spread through populace, and how it can infect someone without showing any symptoms for up to two whole weeks - as well as we don't actually know the long-term implications of contracting coronavirus yet.
