2002/3 lost a multi million pound company due to banking error and part being a twat with cash. Started it with £50 settled with bank out of court.

Tried to duplicate that business 3 times and failed. I tried another 9 business after that all doing 50-100k a month but none where really above board. I finally was arrested and charged with fraud.

I now have a thriving businesses because I'm not running it for me, I'm slowly building a brand to pass onto my kids (I hope) - I think if I try and be greedy and try and do the business for me it will only fuck up again, so the business is and never will be mine nor the money it's just for the benefit of my children.

So far its enabled me to sell off my old design company and this has been going strong for 5 years and counting with 3x growth every year.

Had a site making $10k+ profit every month, it died due to PayPal banning my account + blacklisting my domain, got severely depressed for a while. After that, I built a new site and hit almost exactly the same amount again, and then a Google update came and cut it by 90% - But that time I couldn't do much more than laugh and say "Touché Google", and start 30 sites instead trying to at least triple what I made before

Don't put all your eggs in one basket is a lesson we all gotta learn.

1. Worked on creating a platform like Medium (before Medium was even launched) - Wasted 3 years and $4k
Reasons for failure: Wrong team, pathetic coding & designing skills, chasing perfection, no roadmap

2. Started a startup interview blog: Wasted 4 months and around $300
Reasons for failure: Laziness, no monetization method

3. Investing in crypto: Wasted $8K
Reasons for failure: Wanted to get rich overnight, started gambling instead of investing, using the money I couldn't afford to lose

4. Blockchain based online consultancy/advisory/teaching app: Wasted $4K and 1 year (made $12K but the project failed)
Reasons for failure: ICO, Free-airdrops, improper planning, wrong team

Honestly, 10k profit is not hard. The hard part is keeping that going once you get there, hence why I started 20+ sites this year instead of 1.

Also, 10k is not even close to enough to be balling ( ) if you live in a tier 1 country, definitely not any "wow" amount and I hate that I haven't cracked anything higher yet. $30-$50k a month and we're talking.

yeah I think tier one country gives some advantage {but I am from India } and another thing how are you managing 20 sites? u should have a team for that number

The worst part is having it all taken away - not having a sofa to sleep on because all your "friends" at the time just liked the money and 30k+ weekend spending spree. It's trying to set up a business again and just wanting that money to maintain a specific life style it's hard as fuck. Did not help I had no idea how to handle that kind of money at the time either.. learn't a pile of lessons HARD.

The BEST and the only thing that keeps me going is my wife met me when I had a ton of money and she stuck with me when I had no money - ill always ow her for that and be loyal for that act alone.

Chin up and all that like most things in life you learn from it, not proud of any of it but not ashamed either.

Yes, and no.

It's no problem, I outsource all content writing (for example I've ordered 350,000+ words the past 2 months, could've never done that myself or my hair would be gray before I'd finish it), the only thing I handle myself is building the actual sites and the on-page/SILO/technical SEO part as no one seem to be able to handle it properly. Backlinks/off page SEO is also outsourced. Not that hard to be honest.

It's hard work at the start of the site, then you leave them and let them age like wine, and 3-6 months later they're making some nice coin.

2012. First Google Penguin update.

Wiped out every website from SERP I had my earnings from 150$ a day to 5-10.

Also had similar situation in 2016.

Exactly the same here. I spent MONTHS grinding out backlinks and finally ranked #1 for a competetive keywords which then started bringing in around 5 or 6 sales a day ($150 or so), 2 weeks later, BOOM, penguin update destroyed me and my site dropped out the ranking for that keyword completely.

Oof. I had a crypto site selling dogecoin. Did all my due diligence but had one client who bought £5k worth via credit card. I thought nothing of it because he'd spent £10k in the past few months all of which cleared.

I asked him what he was doing and it was arbitrage and selling it on. No big deal, 2 days later I get my processor pulling my account due to a chargeback of the full £5k.

He sent a snarky message saying he got scammed and that somehow it was my fault the value tanked and he couldn't offload the coins.

I'd already had the payout from the processor but couldn't carry on selling and the site hit the dirt.

Lots of other failures but that one hurt the most!
