How did this guy make his website load so fast?

Probably optimizes the images, and uses one of the themes from ThemeYard (the one in source is titled "Fastest" but I didn't see it on their site) - they have a few built specifically for speed in their catalog though, such as "Super Fast" and "Faster" - not sure if you can configure caching with Blogger (I know you couldn't do much in the past, and a quick search shows that still appears to be the case). So optimized static resources and a theme built for speed is probably really what it comes down to.

The site is literally under a 1mb (300kb transfer) with almost no JS. This is what sites were like in the good ol days, there's nothing to load, nothing to process; it's basically just text and images.

Compare that to wordpress that has to run a bunch of PHP and JS every load. Blogger is like that hot tight college girl, she's light, doesn't have any baggage, but doesn't have any experience and can't do much.

And WordPress is like a 40 y.o milf. She does everything you can think of and more, but she's loaded up with baggage, barely keeping everything together, and is a mess under the hood.

Pros and cons, your choice to make which one you want.

5.2 s load time.How is it fast?

Loads almost instantly when visiting from a browser and not using a speed test tool (for me at least). How fast does it load for you when directly visiting the site?
