Don't search domain on namecheap

ICAAN raised the price while the domain registrars raised that price further.
They are all in it lol

Namecheap: Renewal price $3,250.00/yr

The domain is marked as premium by ICAAN most likely with minimum price say $1000. Then every registrar put whatever markup they want. For example for this very same domain dynadot ask for $1500

That's why I search the domain on multiple registrars not that that helps but I hurry up and make a purchase. One domain I purchased I waited a week to purchase and it was still there. I get my domains from Namecheap or 1&1 Ionos.

Namecheap is by far the best hoster in my experience.
I have a solid 15$ / years shared hosting with them (lol). And they probably already paid their employes 10k $ to help me with their live chat XDDD.
A livechat guy helped me to solve a problem on my script (hosted by them) all the fucking afternoon when it's not even related to their activities.
The support is amazing, you can ask anything they will always fix it and for free.

I can confirm if you look for a domain and don't buy it some domain services do park the domain as there was interest and hoping it your brand name, so you buy it for a premium price.

in fact, domain brokers try to pressure a company to do this for there business aswell.

if your smart use a $1 domain register and on renewal swop the domain to a cheaper provider .

just be carefull with domains there many domain services just ban the domain for unusall reason be warned.

Well in fact the ICAAN "count" how many times given domain is searched, and after certain treshhold it become "premium". Check this out:

Why do you think those domains are "premium"? Simple because many people are "testing" the prices and what not using "asdasdasda"and the like - registrars detect a lot of searches and voila - premium domains.

I never had such an issue with Namecheap. I had an issue with GoDaddy in the past, when I searched for an niche specific expired domain, I found the rate to be $10 and then the next day, it became premium domain for sale. I switched to Namecheap then as it gave Privacy free for first year.

Tried to charge me last year for 1 word domain ~$50 for renewal - RENEWAL of domain that I own 5 years.

This time. They tried to charge me $148 for SAME DOMAIN name. That I own for 6 years. Fuck they are. I was about to move it and than acceptable price was $10ish.

Fuckers. This "premium" domain crap is getting me tired.

I'm tired of them trying to charge me for my 10y old EMD like bestfryingpan $172 because they "think" it is viable. If domainer owns it, it is fine. Else, not cool registrar dudes.

If its a brand new domain, then it's an issue. I never check my domains in the main registrars for this issue (although nowadays I hardly see any value in new registrations, all good domains are already taken).
But are you sure it is not an expired domain? Check it with wayback.

Bud, this happened to me on domain that I own for years. I reached out to support and it was sorted out.

This is ridiculous what they do.

OP, the registrar is different than Namecheap, so I don't think it's the case of what you describe.
Anyway, I noticed I always do a domain name search on godaddy, then head over to namecheap to make a purchase lol

Exactly my thoughts, people always think that there is some wicked stuff these companies do to fool them but in reality those are just conspiracy theories.

Had this kind of problem even with adult domains in a matter of hours, since then when I found some good domain I take it right away.

I also think that namecheap is "cheap" in that sense. I always use InstantDomainSearch for my domain research.
