I used it on one of my sites and it recovered 50% of deindexed pages already. Traffic went up instantly, so there is no question that this whole mess is a deindexation fault.

I had the same 17 Dec a drop and today I am almost deindexed for nothing. It must be a Google mistake since I do nothing wrong on this page's website.
I also have a mobile-friendly deindexing problem, since 17 Dec.
The question I have is, is there someone that has already changed their sitemap? and Refetch it to google?. For example, first Yoast and now switch over to rank math or so. Since it is an indexing problem with the sitemap, maybe google kinda banned or sitemaps for, whatever reason. So maybe if we just change the sitemap is could help for now
Besides that also a funny fact is that I am totally deindexed by Google, but I still win a lot of FAQ boxes xD ( 2 different Google Algo )

With the same URL structure? Or a different one?
Old --> /sitemap_index.xml
New --> /sitemap.xml
