So my site is now 9 months old but I haven't done much SEO since last month and as any noob in this DIY world, I think I overdid my link building if there is such a thing and am afraid that I have been sandboxed or like I stated in an earlier thread it's as if my rankings are getting worse. last month I was averaging 15-25 average position but in the new new year, its dropped to 45-50 (5 days). Am I being paranoid here or should I wait for things to settle before attempting to build more links or have I even been sandboxed? am kinda panicking a little on how to proceed. For reference last month I was showing 25000 links and as you can see the latest from yesterday shows 174000. Now, these are not all spammy links but some might be. I did this before I learned about tier link building. I have tried to at least have a mixture of links so they are not all bad. Maybe I am just being impatient, I don't know...

How did you build so many links mate if you didn’t do any seo, one option disavow all spammy links and see if it works

ok, so I found an expired domain in my niche that had 125,000 links pointing to it and did a 301 redirect. so technically I could just remove the 301 right?

Those are quite a high number of links. Learn from this and do not repeat this on any other site.

Try checking the domains not the links..
See which domains' backlinks are not related to your niche. then disavow them

Hmm you didn't write it was a redirect at the first post. When did you do the redirect? How long has it been. If it is less than 30 days i would wait for another 30 days before i remove the redirect. If it doesn't effect positively after 2 months i would remove the redirect. When you choose expired domains try to find ones that has lower than 3K backlinks. I choose mostly 100-1K backlinks. Most of the domains that have more than 5K backlinks usually have spam backlink profile.

Well, the last couple of days traffic and average position is starting to recover. averages are down to 30-35 and traffic has doubled. It's not up to par yet but at least its trending upwards again.

It's all about velocity on your website and then velocity well ranked sites usually have.

You should ask yourself this:

1. Do the ranked pages of the 1st page usually have these numbers?- If so, you should be good.
2. Can I keep this up? - The biggest giveaway is that people cannot keep up their link velocity. It's all just blasts. (aka they run out of money) If you can keep this up for several weeks (+/- 30%) you might actually be good.

First answer should always be Yes before you proceed to the second. Otherwise you stand out like a sore thumb.

Except my traffic is so low that quantifying number 1 is almost impossible. at the moment my 1st-page rankings are the domain brand name and traffic for that is usually minimal. But last week when I started this thread I had dropped to 70 a day but since then it has climbed to 300. its far less than the peak but its slowly going back up...

I was talking purely about links. Tools like Ahrefs can show you totals but also velocity.

Justifying links with traffic is ideal scenario though, yes.

It's funny in November before I started, I had a high of 1500 and an average of 15 but that was one day and I have yet to approach that again. For now, my plan is to get rankerx, and do some tier liking, I hear its effective for some people. I was thinking of building a pbn but it seems fairly complicated from what I have read so I shied away. Honestly, I just need to find an effective method and then scale it because I have other sites in the same niche but targeting different countries and hiring someone is gonna get pretty expensive for me...

Yes, tiered linking works for some people. I could never really make it work for me to be though to be honest.

I went the other route where I try to rank with as few tier 1 links as possible. That's how I got into PBNs and niche edits.

Very interesting that 1500 day. What happened that day? Traffic source?

I haven't tried niche edits yet, I will have to check that out. as far as the 1500, I just got 1st ranking for a keyword that had a lot of searches that day. but this keyword has since dropped out of the top spot. some kind of flare-up i guess haha

Daily uniques? Looks promising.

I don't think it would hurt if you'd simply wait and observe for 2-3 days. I doubt all links are indexed so engines will find those in the meantime and velocity ill not suffer.
