New Google Update January 2020

I'm using Google XML Sitemap so I don't think the sitemap plugin is the problem. I don't think we are the only that experiencing this problem, probably people don't check webmaster or I don't know. Websites is still indexed, and I think this is good, no manual penalty and also is good, so hope this situation will be fixed soon.

Indexed, yeah, but nowhere to be found. Even when I search for site:mysite.com it shows "About 259 results (0.22 seconds)" but then there are only 2 pages of results to look at.

Same for me, if I type "site:mysite.com" I got 1000+ results and only 3 pages :/
Not banned, still indexed, but impossible to find

Did many of your URLs get removed from Google Cache as well? (https://cachedview.com)

Mine used to be there yesterday but now a lot of them return a 404 for some reason.

Any issues with slower indexing (or none), for new pages as well as parasites/web 2.0s?

Is this a temporary technical problem or just how things will be from now on?

One of my sites that lost 29 positions (1st to 30th) from this update today went back in great position: 2nd! I've changed only the Title of the homepage (removed big keyword and used a creative one).

Once google cached new title the site recovered. Amazing

Same problem here, my site domain is still available in google cache but all pages return 404...very sad

The secret to not being negatively affected by any updates: Build links for referral traffic and create content for your target audience.

Not sure if it's part of the update but all search results for me are now showing icons in the SERP... never had them before..

I noticed some changes to my websires rank too.

Google now starting to prefer the content and not only the backlinks.

I read guidelines in their website and now they asking for the content to be more informative and be wrote from an expert ^_^ that know the field and not for amateur.

Yeah it's weird, and to be honest its very annoying. No point to see favicons ... Just make it harder to find what you looking for. My eyes popping while try to read

I have an 1 yr old Ecom site, no blacklinks made yet, just social signals (a lot), On-Page seo and unique well written product descriptions. All ranked naturally.. But it's dancing like crazy since december.
My low quality keywords with low search volume are ranking higher every day, but the ones with high search volume that made me some good free traffic before are dropped or totally lost...
I'm pretty disappointed :(. I think I will wait until this shit show get quit down to see the "end results" , then I start building some high quality links, and hope to get rank again..

Would be awesome to know what methods works the best with this new update, and what makes your pages drop...

Google is the Jeremy Button of search.
You mean Benjamin Buttons? :D

I couldn't agree more - I hate seeing favicons in the search results, it's distracting and just straight annoying. Could possibly be leveraged for higher CTR though.

I still dont see changes. Just a slight decrease of traffic, but no idea if the update is the reason or if its the niche itself.

Still so many spam websites ranking for some terms.

Well if you lost rankings then it wasn't "improved" interlinking. Rethink your internal linking strategy.

I think you misunderstand me. I only altered interlinking after the November update and after rankings where lost. The past few weeks have seen improvements across the board, starting in the new year and improving again after the 14th of January.

Overall I'm up 50% from this date in December and down 30% from this date in October. SO, I've seen some recovery from the November update but I'm still a long way away from pre-November numbers.
