Hi all!

Just recently I saw a post about time wasting reducing.

Anyway, I'm not saying that I'm addicted to it or anything, but I've noticed that I'm spending quite a lot of time on Social media - Insta, FB, TW, Reddit etc. Even tho I don't just waste my time there, as I follow quality subreddits, profiles etc., that are mostly work or news related, I still feel like I should cut some time on them.

Anyone, who has faced a similar problem and has some ideas on how to stop automatically opening one of those social media apps? :(

Thanks <3

I used to be addicted to Facebook. I've installed a third party app called Fella.

Because it's not as good as the official one, I've started to use it less and less. There are days where I completely forget to check FB :)

Hi there,

I completely blocked Facebook and Instagram on my computer, so I can only access them from my phone.
No more distractions during work, it seems to be working.

Thanks @ContentExpert for linking me in this thread. What I did recently was unplug my PlayStation from my wall and my TV. I sometimes caught myself reaching for my controller to power it on but since it's unplug I remember why I unplugged it in the first place.

I would go as far as putting it in some sort of storage like my closet but I don't feel like I need to as of right now.

For you I would suggest that you turn off all notifications for those apps and put them in a folder labeled social media in the back of all your apps. Maybe turn off all notifications on your phone all together if its a big problem.

That way you won't be tempted to open them as much

Edit: I'm replacing my time on the PS4 with physical activity. Everytime I think about gaming I decided to exercise. Something you view as productive to substitute your previous activities might help with the urge or void.

On Saturday, I uninstalled Facebook app from my phone. Now the only way I can access it is through the google browser ( I don't open FB on my laptop ) which makes using FB reaally hard and slow compared to the app. Now over the last 3 days I did not spend more than 1 hour per day on FB, which is a huuuuge improvement considering I used to spend 4 hours/day on average. Now onto finding a solution for youtube because I spend quite a lot of time on it too.

I kind of live off YouTube too. I don't know how to classify it though because I watch mainly documentaries and phylosiphy. But I guess if you classify productivity in terms of money it is definitely a distraction
