I remember I had been smoking weed every day for several years and after watch a episode on JRE about crazy vivid dreams after stop smoking weed I got curious about it so I decided to go for a week without smoking to see what would happen.
Guys, I had the craziest, most realistic dreams of my life. The ones that make you think the whole thing is really happening.

One of the dreams I had was taking a walk down the street with my bird, as I was walking down the street I was moving to another place that wasn't my neighborhood, a place with some trees and no houses. After walking a little more the street I was entering a forest with tall trees. Then some houses with old Japanese architecture appeared by the side of the street. Big stunning beautiful houses. Something like that:

Those houses had so many details in my dream that I was really believing on all that I was seeing. It was really vivid. So I was walking on the street stunned by old japanese houses for all sides, but no people on the street whatsoever. Just houses. Little houses, dojos, temples and sometimes some gigantic old houses like that:

The strange thing is that I was not searching about japanese architecture whatsoever, and even that way my dream was full of details of the houses. I can remember every little part. Crazy shit.

Has anything like that ever happened to any of you?

Nopes. I felt bad for a few days, and then the craving stopped. Although, whenever I smell someone having a joint; I feel like a kid being deprived of his candy. :D

It's very addictive to say the least lol (in my experience). Before going cold turkey, I used to have 1-2 joints each day.. for 10-12 years straight.

How'd you feel a few weeks after stopping?

And to OP weed messes with your REM sleep so when you stop using it your dreams come back full force. REM rebound or something. Saw the Joe Rogan podcast about it too

Have you tried DMT?

5 MEO DMT is amazing. It's not the typical DMT people that use which is mainly visual.

5 MEO DMT is insanely thought provoking. The connections you make on 5 MEO DMT are insane, everytime I take 5 MEO DMT I feel extremely good for the next week.

Oh but no, these are psychedellics, they are bad for you!!! Give me a break. DMT is way less harmful for you brain and health than cigs or alcohol.

All I can say about weed is that consumption has been known for several hundred years and no victim is registered, but tobacco makes many victims every year! Happy Smoke and Good luck for all!

I didn't feel the need to have a joint anymore. It did mess with my sleeping patterns though, and I am still fighting to fix that.

I'm now in my 60's - used weed since my teens with some breaks due to work. Never experienced dreams as described by the OP. By far the weirdest dreams I have tend to occur after eating strong cheese just before crashing out :-)

I have 3 weeks without weed ( I used to smoke daily and spent 400-500 euros a month) since then I don't sleep very well and I dream every fucking night only retarded things. For example i was chased by cannibals, by vikings even kidnapped by aliens...

You will have the same issue not only weed, other drugs too when you suddenly quit.

its more likely your brain trying to fix himself, living without any substance. So it kinda mess up a bit.

Not weed related but my sleeping patterns are messed up due to other things that I done in my life and from other events + training. It's been well over 12 years now (I can only sleep 4hrs max 5 if I'm lucky regardless of when I go to bed im up at 4am) and I've still not been able to get my old sleep pattern back so good luck to you - I think once it's ingrained it's nearly hard to shift that pattern back without medication.

Yeah man, exactly that. All kind of crazy shit happening every night.

Did you see the people that hold the strings of the universe together?

I'm not scientist but there are two kinds of weed - indica which makes you relaxed and could help you fall asleep and sativa which gives you energy. It is very possible that when it happened you maybe were physically tired and / or had alcohol that made you sleepy but at the same time sativa weed made your brain more energized / excited. So perhaps body was in sleep mode but brain was still more active sending signals and that created vivid dreams.

I saw a mention of something else in a book I've read and saw more information online. They say that pineal gland is your third eye and it plays role in controlling bodies internal clock. I've read that fluoride which is contained in most toothpaste / public water (and other things) cause pineal gland to calcify and you have less dreams. If you de-calcify pineal gland you start having more vivid dreams. I switched toothpaste brands after that and do see an increase in dreams that I'm remembering as compared to the past.

I tried melatonin for a while by a friend's suggestion and that thing made me have the wildest dreams.

Now whenever I want to go to the movies I just save myself the ticket and take melatonin. Whatever happens while I sleep is better than movies.

No, that's not the type of DMT I took and I only took DMT 4 times. I don't smoke weed or do any other drugs. Only drink a couple times a week.

Also for the whole next week after I took the DMT I felt great, very creative, while after I drink alcohol I feel like shit. DMT also isn't addicting.
