Am adopting a pet

I just looked up the fury breed articles are saying they require high attention than a normal dog

They cute brosky and very adorable now depends on what category breed you want ferocious or cute looking

I have cats and dogs (two of each) ...

Depends on the kind of person you are...

Cat will look after it's self all you need to do is feed and water if its a stay at home cat you need to clean out the litter and be prepared for the house to stink of cat shit till you do clean it. Also if you rescue a cat you need to keep them indoors for 3 months so they get used to the "smell" of your home and IF you do let them out they know to come back to you..

Same if it's a kitten you get you need to keep them at home until they can go out. If you get a BOY get him fixed ASAP other wise he will start spraying around your house from 12 weeks and once that start's he won't stop even if you have him fixed so enjoy cat piss EVERYWHERE.

If you want to keep it home then it's no problem either you do.

Dog needs way more care if you ask me and I love our two (English springer spaniels) depending on the size of your dog depends on how much he/she eats and the cost involved. Where you live and if you are in a flat or have access to a garden. Dog needs to be let out to use the toilet so in a flat this could be a "choir"

They also need to walk at least twice a day, they suck if you keep them at home all alone. Some dogs can't cope with it and will destroy things because they are not being exercised / entertained. There are no bad dogs only bad owners. So if you are happy to go out every day rain, wind, cold, heat and shine and pick up dog shit then go for it

As a pup they will chew EVERYTHING - (a kitten will claw everything!) if you lock your dog up and he/she gets ill they will shit everywhere a cat will do this also but has a greater chance of getting to cat litter than a dog just doing it on your floor.

Dogs need to be trained. You need to teach them to sit, stay, not to jump on people and when to get "off" people* and YOU MUST BE consistent with the training, any words you use for "off, get away, back off, down" whatever it might be you and everyone in the house needs to use the same word.

*that's just the basics They can do some cool things. Both of mine will listen to only me on a voice command and hand signals but will listen to everyone if you use the correct whistle pips

Dogs also with food there is a lot of crap in dog food much like human ready meals so do some research anything with I think vitamin B or loads of it will lead to a hyper dog unless you want them working (both of mine do) so they have the fuel to go all day.

If its smaller or near the same size as a cat its not a dog. Its a rodent.

We have 4 tabbys and a caucasian shepherd, needless to say, I love all our pets but I would advise against a dog unless you're an outdoorsy person. Needing to take the dog for walks regardless of weather can become annoying if you like spending time in front of your screen. Also, dogs tend to be and get very messy, so routine cleaning is another pain. 2 things you very rarely have to worry about with cats. Another point people often don't think of is that a cat can be left alone for a certain period. Say you are out of town for a couple of days, the cat will be happy as far as it has food and clean litter. You can absolutely not do that with a dog. And the most important point with dogs, different breeds have different traits. Though we can debate nurture vs nature, and true nurture might keep certain qualities suppressed in a dog, but they don't go away.

Another point people often don't think of is that a cat can be left alone for a certain period. Say you are out of town for a couple of days, the cat will be happy as far as it has food and clean litter.

We went to France last year the entire holiday for 14 days cost us £700 + 500 ferry (£1200)... family of 4.

Cats had 3 x 7 day feeders with someone coming in to check on water levels every 4 days.

Dogs we put up in kennels (OK we got two & I pick nice kennels) but cost us £854! JUST for that one holiday!!

We tend to go away twice a year so that's an extra £1700 we have to pay out just for two dogs! That's an extra holiday or two for the family when you compare the costs. Might be cheaper depending on when you go away but as the wife works in education we are limited to school holidays only!

As I said, love my dogs. But the hidden costs soon rack up and a dog lives for 13-17 years I think depending on bread and how active you are with them.

It's not a 5min decision! Do plenty of research.

Thanks man I really appreciate your post i had a dog over 10 years ago and while that was a very rear kind of dog, he was truly the definition of dogs are man's best friend I think am leaning towards getting a dog again

What can go wrong with a hangover... Not the best photos as they are eating and ill try and get some others later if you want

This is Tegan we had her from a pup, I paid a fair price for her because of who I thought her father was and the blood line she came from only to discover all the paper work was fake! Never mind she is a brilliant retriever for me, will clear anything and swim with no issues at all for a gun dog she is perfect. She's 10.

This is ollie he is a recuse dog! We got him from someone who kept him tied up on a driveway when I went to collect him the owner wanted £100. He settled for a punch to the jaw! He had nothing with him no toys used to shit when we sneezed or if you lifted your arm as he thought he was going to get hit, hates fireworks, hates guns, hates washing machines BUT this dog will find any game anywhere is brilliant for flushing..

I've tried to spend £900 for a weeks training get him broken in and working but I ended up having the dog expert refunding me as he failed to break his spirit also. Got no idea on his age but he is a proper old man dog id have him down at 12 but he doesn't act like it!!!

He can jump and clear a 5ft fence if he wants with no problem more so if he sees a bird! The only down side to him his previous owners beat him so much they broke his back hips so he runs on a funny angle and can only swim with two front paws! That and his diet wasn't the best so his fur is always being cut every 12 weeks - as you can see he's over due now!

Cats are more independant and easier to watch for. Dogs provide higher emotional feedback and require a stronger commitment to care for them.

Dangerous advice. Huskys are bred to be outdoors and in cold/snow.
Please do not go for a dog that looks cute, when it does not suit your living conditions. Indoors and hot country? Husky will be suffering. They also are very active and could destroy your house/flat if you don't let them out often.

I have a cat that doesn`t like to be touched 3/4 of the day, I still love him even if he hates this planet more then me.

Oh, and he wakes me up between 8:00 - 8:30 every morning without a miss.

I live in a flat, and I don`t like going outside twice a day to walk the dog for his needs, especially now in the bloody winter. If I was living in a house with a yard, definitely I`ll go for both, dog and cat also, I dream of having a Belgian Shepard Malinois.
