paypal for freelancing

is it risky to use paypal personnal account for freenlancing?

One of my friends is working remotely for a company as their proofreader/editor/etc and uses Paypal to receive his monthly payments. No problems so far...

Depends on what are you doing with the money after paypal. And where are you from.

Sure, idk where are you from (that's why I noted it), but for example: in Serbia, if you're getting more then 1k€/mnth - they (bank) will report you to the IRS and you'll be forced to pay taxes eventually.

I personally haven’t had any but PayPal can be a real bitch when it comes to someone making a claim

Digital services don’t have seller protection which makes thing complicated

Consider Payoneer as another option.
Bank transfer might be worth looking at too, just keep in mind currency exchange fees.
