you’ll get a cease and desist and they’ll invoice you for the amount they think you’ve sold, don’t pay it, ignore the letters, don’t reply to any of them

if trading standards turn up they’ll give you a warning and might take any stock you have, which is none as your drop shipping, explain you them it comes direct from China and they’ll ask for the suppliers details.

That's not the "worst" case. As I said fine and jail is worst case. What you outlined is best case. Without knowing what the OP is importing and selling you can't claim all he will get is a slap on the wrist and to just ignore letters. Putting your head in the sand does not make the problem go away.

Since it's dropshipping you'll most likely get a cease and desist order. Jail is unlikely without carrying inventory.

I guess what I am looking for is whether its worth it or not.
I am aware that 'worst case scenario' is jail or murdered by an angry customer... But if that probability is less than 1%, I'm ok.

There are some interesting points here indeed. I am not in any case in touch with the products myself. I buy 1 and 1 for dropshipping. I don't buy bulk.
They can either ask me to shut down, or take legal action. Legal action would not be monetary worth it to them, but maybe they would do it to deter others from doing the same.
Then again, there are many doing what I'm doing, and the real problem lies in the producers, not so much the sellers without stock I would assume.

They don't need stock to take you to court! All they need is proof you sold X item(s) to Y person(s) and normally the disgruntled customer will provide all the invoices, PayPal purchase, bank statements what ever it maybe. They don't need "stock" to take action.

Well, if someone buys something from you and they get really angry, and as you see on the internet, people get really angry for all kinds of reasons so maybe stop now that you made lots of money and move to something else before it all starts to crumble before your eyes.

In the UK drop shipping or not. If trading standards want to take you to court they can come along under some sub section of the consumer rights act to enter your home or business address or what ever address you are linked / trading from take a look at stock OR DOCUMENTATION that relates to the running of the business or any trading activity that business has done.

They do not need to have physical evidence of stock in order to take any kind of action. Most transactions now have a digital paper trail.

They can close you down, issue fines, give you a slap on the wrist or start a legal case against you which can be taken further.

If you sell a pile of fake what ever it maybe and someone will raise that issue with trading standards normally the product the customer has purchased from you will be handed over to them.
