We all know Google has the 'unlimited' money and resources to just give a go to anything. We've seen it kill multi-million projects like it's nothing, but to my eyes Stadia is different.

We are no longer in 2010, where gaming market was mature. In 2019, it's over saturated and flooded with options. Google gets Phil Harrison as VP and invests whatever is needed, in what they feel will change the industry.

Stadia is supposed to revolutionise, yet, major industry experts said early on "there's nothing really new". Other's mentioned how a good internet connection would be vital to be able to truly experience the console. Some stats show how the avg. internet speeds in the US don't go past 18GB/sec, which would deem Stadia to useless.

What I feel it's impressive, is how Google managed to shut eyes and ears to all the basic clues thrown their way. More importantly they didn't care to understand the consumers. What gamers, casual or hardcore want from a gaming system!?

Google created something that works brilliantly for their Directors and VPs bubbles. I bet it does wonders in mega-homes with Google devices all over and top 0.01% internet speeds. They just completely ignored millions who will struggle to make the console work.

It just got scarier to know our searches, videos, apps, androids entirely rely on such company.

Is it just me?

Not only that but with the resources they have you would have thought being able to supply pre-orders would be OK.

Streaming is the way it's going and google just wants a slice of all that nice data.

I was paranoid / drunk and starting to rant its all to do with some future crime shit, you are a young kid playing games they can map out how you think and your personality and how you are likely to behave in certain decisions that tagged with your search data and everything else... I stopped drinking and smoking at that point ;)

The problem is while the tech might be there the infrastructure isn't.

:D Hypnotise kids and make them click in all Google Ads adverts

Heard it already started right? this so call Cloud gaming.

I see my local News stated , Google want to so call " kill off console gaming "

as people no need keep upgrading expensive console , games to play

Yep, launched, but massive flop and bet it won't recover.

Doesn't really deliver on promises. It's subscription based, but you also have to pay $40+ for each game you want to play, and it's never really yours, it sits on the cloud :anyway:

News does mention the KEY problem is wonder will lag , etc server can cope I remember that , which Google also so call trial testing

In fact if I right is not available to every countries yet.

As I have mentioned before, google is in the too big to fail state. They think they can do whatever they want because they have "infinte power" and "infinite money". But we see that the downfall has already started. They are losing it on many fronts, also because they stopped hiring by skill and waste money on vanity stuff.
They might hold on for a few years more but their dominance will fade.

Google Glass showed that they were morons

Microsoft always has it right with creating custom hardware chips for gaming. It will only scale as technology scales. Eventually you will see add in cards (like a video card) especially for gaming

"Cloud gaming" is a bankers dream. What they want is to execute the game on their servers and your home computer is just the presentation manager so as to "speed up" everything. But the real reason is to extract maximum revenue from the rubes. The "get $9.95 a month from everyone in the world" business model was never sustainable. When money is tight, people cancel.

What I am astonished by is that they don't run ads inside the video games or give corporate discounts or coupons for game play, etc, etc There is a million ways to build loyalty for vendors and all the game companies care about are micro-transactions for direct revenue.

Game developers are just programmers. They are not marketers.

Like what is the customer acquisition cost of a gamer that makes regular micro-transactions? Why don't they give out a $3 t-shirt after a 1000 game plays or after spending a certain amount of money? It is as if these game developers are the real bad guys from "Call of Duty Zombies"

Sincerely

because they built all these servers for Google Cloud Compute which no one uses so its like "hey guys, what are we going to do with all this stuff, snap isn't going to use it all"

Xbox Pass. PS Now are all streaming services that are doing well and growing...

People don't stop doing what they enjoy when money gets tight, they make sacrifices in other areas. If that was the case smoking and beer sales would dip but they don't just the same as the gaming industry continues to grow.

Streaming is where they all want it to go. You pay for ever to get access to something you can never physically own. It's a wet dream for them that is slowly coming true...

It could be a really smart move, only the future can tell.
If everyone gets 5G in a few years, these services will run as smooth as a console.
They now have time to learn and improve their product.

Just like VR that "flopped" in early releases with oculous, I think Stadia will grow into something big.

Once they fix the input lag and 5G fully rolls out, it's game over.

The only way to fix the lag is if they build small data centers across the world.

News does mention the KEY problem is wonder will lag , etc server can cope I remember that , which Google also so call trial testing

So far it's pretty useless, doesn't offer any advantages compared to current consoles, except the fact you don't have a box. It's more expensive to run, and play. Even without lag, you'll struggle to keep up with good FPS.

Something like "Gaming on Demand" will come sooner or later anyway. I don't blame Google for failing right now. This is innovation, it can't work perfectly from day one....especially when the result is also depends on the customer (customers need a great internet connection)

And one more thing: Gaming on demand + virtual reality will also definitely happen in the future. Right now we don't have the technology (hardware, internet speed etc.) but just wait for it. It will be like "Ready Player One" etc.

So far all products, which Google has launched, have multiple objectives

1. Actually build the product user-base etc
2. How to use that data for their search and ads business model
3. How that data can be utilized for other purposes

so even if they kill a product, it doesn't necessarily means that they failed.

I think that they are kinda late to the game... Nvidia shield has had this technology for quite some time now. I have a shield and I rarely use it for streaming games only when I am really bored and don't feel like jumping on my PC. Unless you got a fiber connection I don't think it will work very well, but who knows I could be wrong. I think Google's end game is to get more devices in your home and mine your data.

I agree, they kept selling this as new and groundbreaking, when it's not. And they were told off by journalists and competitors immediately after concept came about as 'new".

I do feel here they wanted more than just data mining here. This to me is failed attempt to bring cheap and easy console gaming to the market. They certainly envision people having everything Google around them.

All they do is just spy on people, good thing is there are many better alternatives popping so its a matter of time for people to switch to privacy focused Search and so on.
