I've read and watched lots of articles and videos about dropshipping since.. Idk maybe 2016...
This was my first attempt with my friend. We combine our pros in one store, added lots of products with various variations. Added size charts each product one by one. Selected the best looking images, edited everything well.
Also, we gave some facebook ads too (our currency was low so it ended up quickly and we had to stop publishing ads), after we looked for google ads because it gives extra +100 bucks for 100 spends.. They accepted all of our products but after making our first ad plan, it didn't show ads anywhere... So we said that there must be a bug so we canceled our google ads campaign.
After all, we tried some old fashion techniques like Pinterest or other social media SEO but my friend doesn't have any knowledge about those things, and I don't have much too.
So I decided to lower the prices in the store, and I decrease the price by 50% or more on all products...
It didn't work either. (I also did a giveaway on facebook ads, I offer 5% off to all products for who enters the website via facebook ads... it didn't work too)
We are not from the US, our currency is far lower than US dollars. We almost spend 50 to 70$ dollars but its too much on our currency.
I'm opening this thread one week before our Shopify subscription ends, we failed an I did listed our store on exchange marketplace, If I could sell that out at least we will recover our budget....

So, that was an experience for me and my friend but we hoped for at least 1 successful sell, but we couldn't achieve that.
I kinda know the reasons, the first reason is, the currency difference is too much, when I watch youtube videos about dropshipping advertisement tutorials, everyone sets a budget more than 100$ but our all-time budget was much lower than this. That was the primary reason..
But still, I know there was other mistakes we did in our store,
What do you think? what was our mistake?

You couldnt drive traffic to your store. If nobody visits the store, nobody will buy anything. Next time you do a project think primarily how you will drive traffic. Focus on getting the trafic first and make website beautifull as second priority.

For traffic you need either money to buy, knowledge of seo for natural traffic, knowledge of social media for social network traffic or some other tricks to get traffic.

If you cant get traffic you will not earn any money from anything. It looks that was your biggest mistake with this project.

I don't like the theme
Thanks, I will change that tomorrow

You're right, I personally have to learn how to drive traffic, even on my personal projects I get very low amount of visitors... Thanks.

Did you look at successful stores in your niche and see what they're doing, what their websites look like, etc.

I looked at some of the similar stores in the same niche as mine, I did make research for keywords that the stores using on the same niche and applied them to my store. also, I picked suggested color schemes for babies like light-pink, etc. I don't know did I make it right, but I did almost everything I can do, I spend my time on it but the result shows that I didn't spend enough or I didn't spend it worth it.

  • The theme looks outdated, the big white space that takes most of the screen makes the site look unfinished.
  • 40% Off On Every Product! -> from $37 to $31 , that's not 40%..
  • The prices after discount are light pink over white, I can't read them, so your customers can't read them either.
  • the Buy button is light blue over white, its like you're trying to hide it.
  • "it takes 15 to 20 business days to arrive" <- I mean maybe improve that because that's insane in today's world.
  • When ordering, it doesn't seem to accept any of my phone numbers (USA,UK,UAE,FR). So I had to put an email angrily. If I were a customer, you would have lost me.
  • There's only one shipping method, so I'm not sure why there's a page about that. Adding steps in a world where we buy with two taps on my iphone is a bit much.
  • It took 13 seconds for the credit card payment thing to load. That's really long.
  • After purchasing it loaded for 12 seconds.
  • "Your request was in test mode, but used a non test card" Not sure what it means.
  • Then "page crashed" with no way to go back to the home page

Also :
  • The email in your privacy policy and terms is different from your contact email
  • Your refund policy applies for 5 days after the purchase, but your delivery time is 15 to 20 days. Do you realise what you're doing ?
  • "We are not responsible if information made available on this site is not accurate, complete or current." <- maybe try to be ?
  • Your website description on google is just "We are a baby costume/rompers store with a lots of beautiful clothes.", it looks weird when there's so little text.
The pictures are nice, you could have a great website if you managed to keep people on it.

Wow, thank you very much, I wasn't expecting someone making this kinda list for us...
I'm gonna answer one by one because English is not my native language :)

  • The theme looks bad, we were aware of that but as you know Shopify offers very few free themes and my friend and me decided on this theme but when we look feedbacks we figure out that its the worst theme we can pick :/
  • I really did make 40% off on every product but after oberlo's auto price, my discount overloads only the real price, the comparison price just stays same :/ the apps I used couldn't change the comparison price so I had to left them like that
  • You are right about the colors
  • you are right about the colors
  • Yes, I absolutely know that these shipping times are too much, but when I make contact with suppliers on china, they said really long times, even some of them said 1 month or much, I picked up the fastest delivery suppliers from the list that I talked. I couldn't find much faster delivery suppliers :/
  • I wasn't aware of the phone number thing, thank you for warning me
  • You are right, I should've added more shipping methods
  • As I know, I don't have anything to do with page load speeds because Shopify hosts our stores, if Shopify downs all the stores that belong them gonna down :/
  • I switched the store to the testing mode so your payments are not accepting because we don't want to make sells anymore, we are trying to sell the store, and as you said the shipping times are too much, if we sell any items on store, we couldn't help the customer if something happens with the product, so we decided to close buying, its on test mode, the purchase is not applying to your card, they are just simulating it as its happening, its a feature of payment gateway, we will not receive payment from you, I don't close the store because of this thread, after I get answers to use on my next journey, I will permanently close the store I think :/
  • As I said above, the hosting things like slow refresh, page crash are about Shopify :( I'm sorry about that

also
  • yes, the mail on contact form was for google ads, their bots didn't see my email address on the store, so they were rejecting us for not having contact mail so I added it there, I was checking for both of them every time
  • as you said like that, I imagine how stupid that I wrote that, I was thinking like after getting your product it starts to count, like if you get your product after 15 days, your trial starts and you have 5 days to test it out but I couldn't tell it correctly :( sorry
in a nutshell, you are right on all of those, I will stick the things that you told us next time if there will be a next time :/ thanks again.

thanks again.
You did a good job, I realised my message must have sounded harsh.
Honestly most of what i listed was really minor, I guess just make the theme a bit simpler, adjust the discount, and you're ready to roll :)

I don't think you need to put discount for people to buy, I think they just have to trust your website + you need enough visitors. Keep it up !

The replies above give you some good insight into what to do offsite but honestly? Even if you were using a more up to date theme with a clearer design and your delivery times were next day with lower pricing - you still have to get the marketing right or the shop will flop.

$50-$70 to test a store is nothing.

I know there's a lot of stories around about profitable dropshipping stores (largely in a marketing context trying to sell you dropshipping courses). What you don't hear about are the failures and they are the vast, vast majority.

I got into this game with barely enough capital to pay for the domain so I'm not saying quit on IM but I am saying quit this model. FB + dropshipping shit from China is saturated as fuck. There's still plenty of money to be made but if you consider $70 too much then you need to get out while you're ahead.

Freelance to build up some capital or get into something where you're swapping labour for free traffic.

Yeah, I know that budget was too low for this, but we were just dreamed like if we make 1 or 2 surprise sells for 20~30$, in total almost 60$ will gonna double our budget but we couldn't make even one :)
That was a lesson to us not to jump straight before searching enough

It happens. Lots of people buy into the flashy sales videos but you're only hearing the success stories there.

I won't tell you what to do but my advice is not to double your budget. You'll be throwing good money after bad and even with the above suggestions to improve the design that's still a very small budget for getting into paid ads.

I'd suggest either waiting until you have more capital built up or start learning SEO/social traffic which is going to be less capital intensive to begin with.

I updated a lot of the problems that you guys suggested to me. Changed the theme etc.
How is it looking right now?
And I have a question, our store listed in the exchange marketplace, but it's not getting any views, not any. Not even 1.
E.Mplace recommends 140$ for the store but I decrease it to 70$ but still no views.
I contacted the Shopify help center, they said there is not a problem, but how can I improve or sell the business quickly?
