We have a competitor - his link backs, on page everything is very strong. They have more than 500 contextual links from different sites where DA is more than 50. I didn't see they got affected by any google algorithms much even if they get hit, it use to recover in a week as per the semrush and my personal observations.

I tried to approach by analyzing that competitor backlinks, even its not easy to approach them even for paid links. Not sure how they got those links.

How do you people beat these kind of competitors?

You're saying they have 500 links form sites each with DA50?

Yes you are absolutely correct, even they have some 100 sites with DA 70 . Even we are not able to contact these site owners. I am 100% sure the links what they got are not PBNS,

Sounds like you need a money tree bro.. or Pbn's with the same kind of power..

social media

This will provide traffic but won't be effective for seo.

@Lauren11 you need to hire someone to do the outreach to get the same sites, but also look at different ones too.
Are you sure they are not also being supported by a well hidden PBN setup?

I am assuming I need to hit my site with very high quality sites. I have to plan the strategy.

Maybe you need strong BL from old established articles i.e niche edits

Ya I am pretty sure no pbns. They are in business for 8 years and their brand is a very famous in USA, so maybe that is the reason it becomes hard to hit them. We are 3 years old in this business. We are not weak, we are late in this industry.

Looks like the niche you chose is of very high competition. You probably have a chance of beating them only with a big big budget.

If you like to get more specific suggestions from the members here you can post one of your competitors here. I highly doubt that someone is going to "steal" niche of that hard competitions :D

Ya I want to keep it hidden.

Keep writing better content than your competitors. If my competitor is writing 4000 words, I would write 6000 by adding extra efforts on info graphics,
social media distribution and press releases. Getting traffic from social media can kickstart your process of higher engagements.

Lastly, have patience!

You're in no way proffering solution to OP's request.

Since OP knows what the competitors are doing, The solution here is replicating what they're doing but this time 2x the approach to stand out. A piggyback approach would be organizing a local event / conference inviting the media. I've fallen for this approach before and it works.

im offering an alternative to OP.. sorry if I am mis-leading
I've been in SEO game & Social Media game.. invest hundred dollars in SEO but the problem is not the competitor, but Google algorithm
I found success with social media.. and its free

you know what is the most powerful thing on the internet? -> share & tweet & like button .. it can scale your audience to 10X

That's it right there. "Trust" and brand recognition play a strong role in SEO. You'd need to spend as much as they did and do the same or better marketing to get your own brand recognized. People will mention you and so on, develop trust. If it's your own product/service I don't see a black hat shortcut.

In your case I think it is about trust, your competitor beside of backlinks, strong ones, he has a brand and trust, which give him a lot of power, same goes in case of big adult sites, those sites are full of spam links but they have trust and brand so nobody can beat them in terms of rankings.

Such kind of stuff can be build in years with a lot of spread in media and such on. Or in your case, you need a lot of cash to invest in links and PBN, and ofc events where you need to invite people from media and so on.

Here we talking only about superpower competition, a strong niche, a lot of traffic, and most of all traffic which converts.
